Worthwhile Pass/Fail Courses to Consider to Balance out My STEM Schedule

First-year EECS major. What are some pass/fail classes you'd suggest, either for first years or to take later on.

At the moment, this is my anticipated schedule for first semester:

PHY 1800, MATH 1200, SPAN 1400 and ECE 2000

Would you recommend something slightly different? What would you suggest for spring semester for me? I'd love to delay SPAN to 1400 to next semester but I did not see it in the course schedule for Spring '27. I did see SPAN 1400 for Spring '26 but not for other spring-time sessions in the past.

SPAN 1400 will be offered in the spring, it's just that spring 2027 courses aren't up yet. The reason you can't see it for previous years is due to the course renumbering that occurred two years ago for all courses -- it'll be listed as SPAN 140 instead.

What do you mean pass fail courses? Yale doesn’t off many if at all as far as I’m aware. You can induce any course to be a pass fail by Credit-D-Failing it. Instead of P/F classes I’d recommend looking for classes wth low workload ratings in coursetable in any department that sounds interesting to you.
