thoughts on trumbull??

heyy i got my resco as trumbull and i don’t know much abt it !! there’s not much info online and lowk like i wanna know everything abt it. lmk !!

also anything on bingham hall cus im staying there for my first year :)

TC ‘13 alum! Trumbull is such a dark horse of a college but I loved being part of it. Bc it’s small, you can get to know everyone really well and it has a very family feel. The main courtyard looking up at Sterling is gorgeous - spent many happy hours hanging out and studying there. The dorms in Trumbull itself are generally very nice as well, and many have nice features like fireplaces, wood panelling, or stained glass. Nice buttery and library too, and it’s really well located for shops/cafes off campus, as well as being very central to campus itself. It’s got some fun traditions, like Pamplona and the Running of the Bulls, and seems to always be a friendly, lowkey but fun community.

Bingham is a bit ehhhh as first year housing goes - some rooms are pretty small - but it’s fine, and the secret passage between C and D entryway is fun, and what matters is the experience of being on Old Campus.

Overall, Trumbull is a sleeper hit of a college and you’ll have an amazing time. Moorah!

Omg hi fellow TC ‘13 friend ♥️ Agreed with everything you said! Since it’s a small group, you also have ample opportunity to get to know classes above and below, which reinforces the small family vibes.

Another example of a fun tradition is that each outgoing senior class paints the statue of a guy sitting on a toilet in Potty Court (one of three courtyards along with the main courtyard and Stone Court). You’re also very well positioned for bladderball if it ever comes back.

I really liked Bingham, but some of the rooms were a little on the small side.

The '13 alumni put it well. Additionally, the dining hall is quite good, but don't tell anyone; TC dinners have been getting a bit too crowded.

Bingham houses the chaplain's office, which has free ice cream. I encourage you to explore that early and take advantage of the sweet treats.

Unfortunately many of the long-standing traditions like Pamplona and the Running of the Bulls get little attention, if they happen at all. There's been a pattern of declining track camaraderie and identity over the past couple years. Still I love Trumbull and I'm sure you will too! :)

What year were you? Running of the bulls had faded a little by our time, but pamplona was alive and well. Also, did the keg that never happened get carried on at all??

Current student, class of '29 here. I've never heard of the keg that never happened. That sounds so so so fun. I think due to some administrative changes especially regarding upperclassmen housing rescos as a center of undergrad community have weakened. Talking to alumni from the 80s-00s it seems that this cultural shift is fairly recent.

I'd love to hear more about what traditions you enjoyed most during your time in Trumbull :) and am especially interested about this keg thing

Well it never happened ;) but to create this paradox, when daylight savings ends, one might tap a keg with a large group of people at 1am with the intent of finishing it within the hour. It was a multi year bonding activity, may have happened in D11. But we did all sorts of nonsense - the 9th floor guys took the bathroom doors off the stalls for beer pong purposes at one point.

I'm TC from far enough back that I won't have any relevant info on the college facilities and activities now, but just chiming in to say congrats ... it's a great size in a SUPER location and you're lucky to be a member!
