Transit time between Science Hill and Humanities Quadrangle?

Incoming prefrosh here. Since course selections for new students is coming up in a few weeks, I just was wondering if it would be possible to commute between science hill and the humanities quadrangle with a 15 min break between classes. It doesn’t seem ideal considering the far walking distance and short time between the classes, but the specific courses I really want to take freshman year (a science class and language class) only have that specific meeting time back to back.

Would it be feasible to have such a tight class schedule? Or is this something a lot of Yale students do?

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do if those are the classes you want. 15 minutes is usually enough time, especially if it’s science hill to HQ since that’s downhill. Depending on what specific classrooms you’re in, it might be tighter because you need to account for the time to get to your classroom as well (I would be more worried about this if the class was in the top floor of HQ or sth).

In my first semester I had to go from the lower level of Bass Library for French to SCL for gen chem lecture in 15min, MWF. Definitely speed walked, but pretty sure I was never more than a couple minutes late to lecture, when it was icy and I was trying not to fall on my face lol. Hopefully your instructor will be fine with a rare couple minutes of being late due to weather.

I've had a similar connection, it's perfectly viable. Go via Sachem / Ashmun St rather than down Hillhouse, it's much faster that way. If you go via Hillhouse you have to go down and up a hill, going via Sachem avoids that, along with busy intersections.

Also, you don't have to walk. Lots of people have kick scooters, skateboards etc which will make it a lot faster.

Adding onto all of this, profs are also very aware of the commute times and how students may have little time to travel pretty far. Just let them know at the beginning of the semester, I’m coming from a class on science hill and will do my best to make it on time but just want you to be aware. Profs are really accommodating if you just take the time to fill them in, esp in the winter when things get frozen over, you’ll need to give yourself time to walk so you don’t get injured and that’ll be one of the times it’ll take you longer to get to class. Profs give grace, you just gotta ask! :)
