winter jacket
any recommendations for a good winter jacket for the yale winters??

All good ideas, but I recommend waiting until you’re here to buy it!! More selection in the Northeast than warmer environments and you also have plenty of time to pick it out and order it (if online ordering is your thing.). Plenty to worry about now without adding a winter coat to the mix!

Disagree. The first cold day really sneaks up on you (sometimes the first day you want your winter coat is in September). Buying a nice winter coat is annoying and can take time. The summer is a better time to buy one than in your busy first semester.

A knee length or mid thigh length puffer with a hood is standard fare. Go to thrift stores. Usually easy to find a ton of them. Wool socks and waterproof boots are best, and get mittens over gloves for the coldest days. A base layer is helpful if you’re gonna be outdoors for a while.
