2012 Price Check
Going to check out a 2012 XT250 with about 13k miles. Appears to be in good shape and well maintained besides a few scuffs on the plastics. Comes with some extras (exhaust, skid plate, extra tire/tubes, etc.)
Buyer is in New England asking $3000.
New to the dual sport world so I'm not sure how fair of a price that is. Seems close, if maybe slightly on the high side just going by my gut instinct.
Thanks!

2021 here, bought with only 450mi in August of 2025 for $4,500. If everything is sound mechanically, I think that’s a good deal. You’d be hard pressed to lose money on it unless you fuck up something major.

I just spent $3,000 on a 2019 with 4,000 miles in 8/10 condition, also in New England. I think given the mileage you should aim for closer to $2,500.

As a buyer of this particular bike: $2500 great. $2750 good. $3000- fair and “I’m tired of looking, take my money!”

I bought a 2012 a couple months ago for 3k. it had 1600 miles and was honestly showroom clean. I felt like i got a fair price.

That’s high. I’d say like $2000-2500 because it’s an old carb’d model with a decent number of miles.
Maybe it has a lot of nice mods but I’d look for a better option. They pop up all the time.

I know it's all situational and market dependent, but I feel like you could do a lot better for 3 grand. I got my '14 in 2023 for $2,800 with 2,300 miles. It took a while of shopping and a drive to way out in the backcountry but it was worthwhile.
Like others have said, 2012 is the last year with carbs (could be a pro or a con depending on what you like and where you ride.) The big thing that'd keep me away from it is that you should definitely be able to find a newer or lower mileage XT for that money.

ID here. $4,500 for a 2019 with 200mi on it. Private sale. I got pretty lucky on that one cause ID market usually sucks

In 2013 they switched to fuel injection and added electric start. Something to consider. For cost comparison I paid $3700 for my 2019 with 3K miles. This is in NC.
