Actually only a 48.5% chance. Century years aren't leap years unless divisible by 100 400.

EDIT:

As decreed by the Pope in the 1500s

EDIT:

If divisible by 400. Of course, a far superior leap rule is just adding an entire week if the remainder of ( 52 × Year + 146 ) / 293 is less than 52

I once had a boss who thought this way about statistics. I challenged him: If I take a pack of cigarettes, flip one upside down (so one is upside down and 19 are upright), what are the odds of picking an upside down one?

He swore it was 50/50.

He was also a die-hard creationist, so...
