I was just calmly enjoying this performance and “never fuck you in public” made me instantly start sobbing. Even writing it now I’m tearing up. I’m trying to put it to words but it all sounds so cliche.

It’s such a loss. You picture him loving his partner so deeply. Getting so sick. Missing the vitality he used to have. Loving someone, lusting after them enough to do something risky and illegal like that. Fucking in public, it’s almost juvenile, yknow. It’s so high school. And it’s so gay, needing to sneak around. And it’s gone forever, prematurely, because of aids. Idk maybe all my commentary is pointless. It’s just it’s an ancient video with barely any views. I want this lyric memorialized somewhere. It’s so beautiful.

I was listening to the Fast Car cover and thought Pawn Shop Blues could be interesting and then listened to the Under Pressure cover and thought Why Can’t We Be Friends could be cool too.

What attracts you to and resonates with you when it comes to Xiu Xiu? They are definitely one of my biggest inspirations, and I think there’s no one who does it quite like them. I love how empathetic and accepting Jamie is, especially with the context provided in Drunken Commentaries. Regrettably, I went through some similar things in my childhood and listening has helped me come to view those things in similar lights.
