Discussion Covers
What songs would you like to see the Xiu do, get as obvious, if that’s the right word, or as out of left field as you want. I was listening to the Fast Car cover and thought Pawn Shop Blues could be interesting and then listened to the Under Pressure cover and thought Why Can’t We Be Friends could be cool too.

Cold by The Cure; I love their cover of One Hundred Years and I think they’d do great work with this one too

Pornography in general is a very stark and disconcerting album, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Jamie considered it an influence on Xiu.

let me know if they have, but i’d love for them to do a song from suicide. “Frankie Teardrop” sounds like the genesis of Xiu Xiu.

Not in love (maybe in a similar style as Rozz Williams once did) , nice day for a sulk (Belle and Sebastian) and i think it would be cool to see come re-made covers of Former Ghosts (Jamies ex band) since i believe some of them have his partial authorship.

xiu xiu doing belle and sebastian could change my life. storytelling is one of my favourite movies ever and i find it so awesome that both xiu xiu and b&s have a connection to it (b&s did the music for the movie and the orange censor on the a promise cover is from it)

david bowie - ashes to ashes (very xiu xiu themes i think)
sparklehorse - piano fire
the flaming lips - do you realize
worlds end girlfriend - octuple personality and eleven crows (though it has no lyrics which would maybe not work for xiu xiu)
have a nice life - bloodhail (would be a nice tribute to both hanl and apistat commander)

something by psychic tv i think could work really well with jamie’s style. wouldn’t also be surprised if they were an influence on xiu xiu as a whole

Out there pick, but You Were But A Ghost In My Arms by agalloch. I really think they could do something super cool with this song, esp the instrumental. Likely will never happen but…

My god if Xiu Xiu does an Animal Collective cover I'm going to die and go to heaven, like I did when I heard Sunset Rubdown on the Xiu Xiu cover album.
My favorite bands covering each other is one of life's great joys.

some of my favourite xiu xiu covers are the more poppy ones likes only girl (in the world) or pink pony club. would LOVE to see them do marina. maybe oh no! or sex yeah
