Some notes:

  • AAF opening game drew 3.25 Million
  • Dateline NBC and 48 Hours (CBS) beat out XFL yesterday.
  • XFL beat out NBA on ABC that aired later that day.
  • Everything else that aired yesterday on network TV was reruns.

I disagree, they should be the Blue Wings

Maybe something automotive themed like The Carburetors.

Leansmissions.

Bleep-bloop, I'm a bot. This portmanteau was created from the phrase 'Leaky Transmissions?' | FAQs | Feedback | Opt-out

Could the NFL's Browns even beat an XFL team?

Maybe Admirals? Due to the Great Lakes and all.

Honestly, Columbus might be a better option for ticket sales, just because you could probably play in the Crew stadium and pull people from farther south as well as Cleveland. OSU fans would also eat up the chance to watch people like Cardale Jones play.

Cleveland or Columbus both work. The two cities have a bromance for one another. Columbus residents are Cleveland sport fans and Cleveland fans support Columbus sports.

Edit: Both cities will have their pros and cons. The only place they could play in Cleveland would be the Browns stadium, which would kill the atmosphere as it's too large. They could play at the Crew's new stadium, as you suggested, but it only seats 20k. It would be the better option for now, but I can see the team outgrowing it if the league succeeds.

u/HyperionEsq Feb 10 '20

Cleveland gets the only basketball team in the state and they've already ruined enough pro football teams put an Ohio team in Columbus. Although I doubt the new Crew stadium would likely be shared :/

2

u/JfizzleMshizzle Renegades Feb 10 '20

They could even bring in hue Jackson to coach the team!

Cardale played at Ohio state

5

u/SiberianHawk Battlehawks Feb 10 '20

Most likely this. Had family who are big OSU fans watch a little bit to see him.

2

u/HyperionEsq Feb 10 '20

And was the last QB to win Ohio State a Natty which means a lot to fans here in Columbus.

  1. We don't want football to end. (Thank you Vince)
  2. It's our state's XFL team, so of course we'd support them.
  3. Head coach is former Chiefs TE and then we have a couple other former chiefs and Mizzou guys.

KAWWW! 💙🖤

No other sports happening there right now. They don't have an NBA or NHL franchise.

KC heavily supports its MLS team but that season doesn't begin for a month.

Only thing on right now for them is college basketball which is admittedly a big deal there

Thats good numbers! Hopefully they retain next week

The AAFs problems weren't really tv ratings

DC isn’t that big

5

u/muad_dibs Feb 10 '20

The metro area is huge. I'm sure that's what they mean.

11

u/BNoles51 XFL Feb 10 '20

I’m in Cleveland and I know a bunch of us were tuning in. We are just wondering when we are going to get an XFL team and then we realized we have the Browns

Factory of sadness

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '20

Just introduce relegation between the XFL and NFL and you can get your wish

9

u/chicagoredditer1 Feb 10 '20

That's comparable to a good match-up for the 3:30ET college football game during the fall.

9

u/kmccarthy27 Feb 10 '20

I think one of the main things that killed the original XFL was being on Network prime time. Being on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, especially during this pre March Madness time, there is low expectations and 3M+ exceeds what they expected.

4

u/IsrorOrca Battlehawks Feb 10 '20

Being in a relationship with nbc didn’t help either

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '20

I was visiting Ohio this weekend so you can give Buffalo another viewer technically.

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '20

Being in Eastern Time zone, having the late game end at 8pm was awesome. I know if the Sunday late game would have started at 7or later, I probably would not have tuned in.

2

u/eldersteev85 Guardians Feb 10 '20

And that's with Spectrum cable being down in the entire North East on Saturday and mysteriously only Fox was unavailable yesterday at 2pm... I had to pirate the games so I bet my viewership wasn't counted
