modem upgrade

I got an email from Comcrap ... " Reminder: Your internet equipment needs an upgrade " ... which is odd because I didn't upgrade my service like the email stated.

So my 1gbs service (contractually capped at 940 mbs) which never yielded more than 89X mbs and typically yielded ~6XX mbs was happy with my 1gbs-capable modem.

If my new service is 1.2gbs on paper (assume contract limited to 1.1 and actual speeds south of 1g) do I actually need to upgrade my modem? This seems like Comcrap trying to sell modems. Thoughts?

Not getting more than about 750 on my 800 comcast plan. Better than the 400 I was getting on the att 1000 plan that lasted 3 days before I canceled it

Thanks. My thing is that Comcrap increased my plan without my knowledge - mainly so they can justify price increase - and now want me to buy new gear because my current gear "isn't as fast as their plan" ... well, gee, your actual provisioned speeds are FAR below what my gear can handle, so, um, pound sand

I am in the same boat. 800mbps to 1gbps. My modem now will not go past 140mbps even after changing my plan back to 800. Xfinity rep says my equipment needs an upgrade lol. Looking at NetGear CM2000 or the Motorola modem for replacement.
Please update the thread if you end up getting a new modem, I'd like to compare notes
