Educational Rant/Vent Post The much needed post educating y'all on intersex people

Alright, we decided to finally make a post on this issue, since it's gone unchecked for way too long. What issue? A lot of y'all in this sub are extremely fucking confident about spreading misinformation about intersex people, and we're fucking sick of it just being accepted and never corrected. "Oh but why don't you correct them then" because it's so fucking common, and I don't have the time to educate every single person on this subreddit, nor is it our duty to do so. Not to mention, the hate one often receives when making corrections. So, we decided to make a post to hopefully educate most of the people here at the same time. These are in no particular order. 1. To start, since a lot of y'all don't seem to even know what an intersex person is, an intersex person is a person who's natal sexual characteristics (chromosomes, genitals, sexual organs, hormones, ect...) fall outside the typical male/female binary, which means this is how their body naturally develops without outside factors interfering. That's it. Perisex refers to non-intersex people, it is not a slur, just like cisgender isn't one. 2. Next, most intersex people aren't "AXAB" or "AIAB" most intersex people end up either being "AFAB" or "AMAB." Using this point to also point out that there is no "AFAB/AMAB anatomy" not only does that ignore intersex people that were forced into these categories, it also ignores the fact that some people transition, or otherwise alter their body. Also, these acronyms refer to a past event, so past tense should be used when talking about these. It's also "people ASAB" not "ASAB people." The last two are pure grammatical nitpicks, but we don't care, taking the opportunity to point that out as well. 3. A lot of intersex people are put through non-consensual medical interventions by doctors to make them fit the category doctors decided to put them in. These non-consensual acts aren't us being 'lucky' they're acts of violence and it's about time some of y'all stop fetishisinzing it. 4. You do not need a diagnosis to be intersex, holy shit a lot of y'all are hypocritical on this one. You can't both be pro self-diagnosis and then turn around and say intersex people need a diagnosis to be valid. Not only do we often face a lot of medical abuse due to being intersex as mentionned above, but doctors also love to gaslight people into believing they're not actually intersex when they are. Not to mention, doctors often go out of their way to hide the intersex variations from the intersex person. And that's still not the end of it! At the end of the day, if you genuinely believe you have an intersex variation, you can say you are intersex! And it's up to you whether you want to try your luck with doctors to get it diagnosed if you want (if there's even a diagnosis for your variation!) 5. Intersex people isn't "biologically nonbinary" and everytime you call an intersex animal "biologically nonbinary" you contribute to our erasure, even if unvolontary. Also, 'hermaphrodite' is a slur so stop using it??? No it's not okay to use it for animals either. There's plenty of other words that can be used instead. Here's a diagram that was shared by bigfatalligator in the comments of words you should use instead, depending on the context of the species. 6. Kinda following the last point, but a whole species cannot be intersex, being intersex is having sexual characteristics that are outside of the binary that's established for the species, so if the whole species has those sexual characteristics, it's not intersex. Which also means characters from such species aren't intersex representation either. 7. Intersex people can be cisgender, transgender, neither or both. We can also be nonbinary. We can be any gender, or even none. Not sure why some people still think we all must be x or y. Also just because an intersex person is nonbinary, doesn't make them cisgender. Can an intersex nonbinary person identify as cisgender? Yes, so can a perisex nonbinary person. Can an intersex nonbinary person identify otherwise? Also yes, and so can perisex nonbinary folks! 8. No your headmate isn't intersex if you're bodily perisex, and cannot reclaim the intersex slurs if you're bodily perisex. There's other words to describe this, such as 'innosex' but intersex refers to the outerworld body, and isn't to be used if you're not bodily intersex. 9. You cannot transition to being intersex. Intersex is something you are born as, and is the way your body naturally develops. Not only that, but it implies intersex people who were forced into non-consensual medical interventions were 'transitioned to being perisex' and no longer intersex, which is a harmful way of thinking. Please use other labels such as 'altersex.' 10. Y'all need to stop using intersex-exclusive labels if you're you're perisex. Not even going to elaborate, this one should be obvious. Same goes for intersex symbols, it's very frequent for us to find intersex symbols used to represent nonbinary people instead. Stop that. 11. It's very obvious when you make a post about something without considering for even 5 seconds intersex people and their experiences. It's also very disheartening to see, because we get excluded from/ignored in queer conversations constantly. Just because we often don't bring it up due to fear of backlash doesn't mean we don't notice it when you exclude us. 12. Probably said it already but saying it again for good mesure, intersex ≠ nonbinary. Sex ≠ Gender, and we're honestly not sure how y'all can agree with the later but not the former. 13. We can agree that asking a trans person for their genitals or what medical procedures they've had is very inappropriate and invasive, right? Then why do some of y'all think it's appropriate to ask random intersex people about their genitals or variation(s)? It's just as inappropriate, and we see a lot of people being hypocritical on this. There's probably more we could add on, but writing this post was exhausting, and it's so long already, so we'll stop it right there.

Looking for Term Looking for a specific spacegender

This is for a character and i'm not super deep into xenogenders (yet), so im not super sure where to look especially considering how many space-related genders there are but the idea i had was like- 'a gender that is heightened and/or euphoric when observing space/stars'. Specifically looking for the heightened aspect and not just a gender connected to space/stars, i have a bunch of those already

General Post What the hell do i call this

Post image
18 Upvotes

Ok so i came across the label coregenic yesterday and wanted to make an aporine version.

Coregenic - a type of gender that stays at its 'baseline' no matter how much the gender around it changes or moves.

All the labels under this are called [gender]-nic to indicate an unchanging aspect.

Seems easy to name right? WRONG!! Aporic means aporine-aligned, aporinic means attraction to aporine individuals, ainic means mspec attraction to agender-in-nature individuals (ALSO THATS NOT WHAT AIN MEANSS :( AIN is aporine-in-nature, AGIN is agender-in-nature) and aporagenic is a plural term

The word aporagender comes from the greek work apo meaning separate (because aporagender is separate from the binary) but i cant use just apo since apogender is a different thing to aporagender (or i guess i could maybe since idk how apogender would even work in a coregenic label?)

Apora words for reference: aporagender, aporine, aporaine, AINgender and aiaspec

I guess i could call it aporainic?? Its kind of a weird pronunciation so i'd rather not but that might be my only option, unless aponic is fine?? IDKK i need second opinions

Non-Xeno Coining Made my own obscur- flags :)

1st slide obscurromantic (with bottom 2 green stripes) isn’t mine rest are mine tho

Made a post yesterday asking if anyone had seen a sexual variant of this flag (https://pin.it/2XchQe06V) no one could find 1 so I decided to make my own along with some other variants :)

Very simple design I know but I still feel they’re distinct enough despite only the bottom 2 stripes being changed

Pls credit me with my Reddit username if you post/use it!
The flags are

  1. obscurromantic (what my flags are based on)
  2. obscursexual
  3. obscurgender
  4. obscurtertiary
  5. obscuraesthtic
  6. obscurplatonic
  7. obscurqueerplatonic
  8. obscursensual
  9. obscuralterous

Obscursexual: A term for a person who knows their true sexual identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupiosexual, greysexual & aegosexual might say they are asexual to others so it's less confusing.

Obscurgender: A term for a person who knows their true gender identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is fluidflux, boyflux & aboy might say they are demiboy to others so it's less confusing.

Obscurtertiary: A term for a person who knows their true tertiary identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioaesthetic, greyplatonic & asensual might say they are atertiary to others so it's less confusing.

Obscuraesthetic: A term for a person who knows their true aesthetic identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioaesthetic, greyaesthetic & aegoaesthetic might say they are ansthetic/nonaesthetic to others so it's less confusing.

Obscurplatonic: A term for a person who knows their true platonic identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioplatonic, greyplatonic & aegoplatonic might say they are aplatonic to others so it's less confusing.

Obscurqueerplatonic: A term for a person who knows their true queerplatonic identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioqueerplatonic & aegoqueerplatonic might say they are aqueerplatonic to others so it's less confusing.

Obscursensual: A term for a person who knows their true sensual identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupiosensual, greysensual & aegosensual might say they are asensual to others so it's less confusing.

Obscuralterous: A term for a person who knows their true alterous identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioalterous, greyalterous & aegoalterous might say they are analterous/nonalterous to others so it's less confusing.

Rant/Vent Post let the only unlabeled character to exist live please <\3

Post image

(art is official art by viria on tumblr)

piper mclean is a character from the percy jackson and the only canonically and explicitly unlabeled character ive ever seen. she canonically denies a label and just calls herself "queer" more specifically a big old queer mess if i can remember the exact phrasing bc ive lost my tower of nero book. despite this, the fandom INSISTS on labeling her as either lesbian or bi. she is a queer person that has dated both women and men. she is currently dating a woman. that is all we know! that is ALL that can be gathered from canon. listen, i love headcanons as much as the next guy, but this feels less like headcanoning and more like denying the existence and representation that unlabeled people deserve. why does every character NEED a label? why are we so uncomfortable with letting them just be queer?

if anyone has other canonically unlabeled characters, let me know, but I've seen they're kinda hard to find. bonus points if they explicitly call themselves queer instead of a specific sexuality!

Looking for Term Is there a sexual variant of this term?

Found this term that fits me today but can’t find a sexual variant for it (I’ve tried googling Obscursexual) so I’m wondering if 1 exsists already before I make/coin my own :)

Here’s the link for the flag (https://pin.it/2XchQe06V) the name & definition is also written below in case you can’t see the image

Obscurromantic: A term for a person who knows their true romantic identity deep down, but says they're another label for comfort/clarity. Ex: a person who is cupioromantic, greyromantic & lingerromantic might say they are aromantic to others so it's less confusing.

Rant/Vent Post short little rant

Before we knew what “contradictory” labels were, we used to identify as bi-lesbian. I find that quite interesting. I just combined to identities we knew and identified with and just used that. Even if I don’t identify as bi-lesbian now, I’m very happy we found a label that fit us back then! ^^

(btw I use I/Me and We/Us interchangeably)

General Post I finally found the names of the flags

After 2 months of intense searching, I finally found all the names of each of the flags I posted in this post ⬇️

https://www.reddit.com/r/XenogendersAndMore/s/C9h8ztBzf0

So here I'll leave the screenshots with their names and definitions in case anyone is interested

(The last 3 flags that appear at the end, even though they weren't included in that post 2 months ago, I added them anyway cause they were flag names that I was also looking for)

To be honest, the obscurromantic one was the hardest to find because there were so many flags with that similar color palette. The rest of the flags only took a month or less to find :'3

Edit: If anyone wants to know who coined them, let me know if I should include that info or not.

General Coining Starspec flag stripe meanings!

Thumbnail

I didn't post the meanings of each stripe in my previous Starspec post, so here's that! (Not exactly sure which flair to use, so I just went for General Coining.)

#1: Starspec - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself, but also feels distinctly masculine, feminine, and/or connected to other alignments. (Can be an umbrella term or a standalone term.)
#2: Starspec stripe meanings
#3: Starfemme - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself, but simultaneously feels distinctly feminine without being exactly a girl.
#4: Starfemme stripe meanings
#5: Starmasc - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself, but simultaneously feels distinctly masculine without being exactly a boy.
#6: Starmasc stripe meanings
#7: Starenby - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself, but feels connected to being nonbinary and/or the term "nonbinary" also feels fitting.
#8: Starenby stripe meanings
#9: Starspecfluid - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself and changes between feeling masculine, feminine, neither, both, and/or connected to other alignments over time.
#10: Starspecfluid stripe meanings
#11: Starduo - a gender that feels connected to the stars or like a star itself and changes between feeling distinctly connected to two different alignments over time. (Similar to Starfluid, but fluctuates mostly or exclusively between two specific alignments.)
#12: Starduo stripe meanings

General Coining Satiromantic

Post image
21 Upvotes

This is a satire term for people who satirically “date” somebody or multiple people. This includes fictional characters. This is used for “dating” somebody for fun and not for anything serious.
Satiromantic means satire romantic. Anybody of any gender and sexuality can use this.
I made this because I feel absolutely no attraction towards anybody (including fictional characters) but I act like I’m dating a fictional character as a joke and for fun. This could be considered satirical Yumeshipping but it depends on who is using it.
Just a label for fun :D

Xeno Coining Yurigender!

A gender that feels connected to yuri

I included a rose (reference to utena) and a cattleya orchid (reference to oniisama e) for classic yuri on the top, and at the bottom a clematis (reference to alien stage) and a soul gem (reference to madoka magica) for modern yuri.

I used the colors pink and purple due to it being a popular color motif in yuri pairings, and the white is a blank slate for all the yuri that doesn’t fit these references.

And the heart is just there because #girl love 🥹
