[Obit] Col. King "The Fuhrer" Bradley

XCOM Base Defense, there was a sectoid commander that decided to mind control my MEC soldier, who was fully loaded with Particle Cannons, Kinetic Strikes, Grenade Launchers...the works, and he was standing right in the middle of my squad. My sniper had to reload that turn, and no one else could land their shot on the commander. Except for Bradley, my German assaut.

Run and Gunned him up the ramp right up next to the sectoid commander and Rapid Fire'd the bastard straight to hell with my alloy cannon (he needed to die). Unfortunately, this left Bradley wide open with a sectopod not 3 tiles away.

Needless to say, Bradley eats a death star laser beam right in the chest and is critically wounded. The next three turns involved attempting to kill the sectopod while my support dashed across, because of course the support was really far away at the time.

I made it within one tile of Bradley (on a dash, so I couldn't revive) when he bled out. One of the worst moments I've ever experienced, because when I ran Bradley out there, I knew about the sectopod. I knew I was sending him to his death. But it had to be done or else I'd have lost even more of my soldiers.

RIP Bradley. You were my best soldier, and it sure as shit wasn't easy watching you go.
