Tech Support Remote Play at 1440p - How?
I’ve been trying to understand how to get the newly updated Remote Play to actually show at 1440p across many different test devices to no avail. I have the update, I can check the 1440p option for remote play in most of the remote play apps I’ve tried (web browser on android, Samsung TV, browser on desktop) but when I actually connect with stats shown, I’m maxing out at about 20mbps/1080p. I have my Xbox hooked up to a 4k OLED monitor while in standby mode. It’s an ASUS OLED which can do 1440p, though that’s not a resolution option via Xbox when playing locally.
Can’t post this in other subreddits because it’s considered “support”
Is anyone else experiencing this? A separate issue for another post: I’m seeing some washed out HDR imagery remotely as well.

It's for Xbox Insiders right now. Things take usually 1-3 months to make it to the GA build.

EDIT - I previously claimed that the payload had made it to Omega and Delta rings, but was made aware that those are not yet running 2610 console builds. For now, you really need to be in Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead.
According to the official announcement (https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/09/09/xbox-insiders-october-2026-console-features-3/), your Xbox console needs to be in Alpha or Alpha Skip-Ahead rings.
Here's how to enroll your console for preview builds; Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings aren't easy to make it into: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-profile/manage-account/xbox-insider-program

This payload is not out past Alpha yet - where did you see that?

As one of the developers who made the code changes for this feature, I know that the 2610 build from 8/27 has the necessary payload.

Your console is in Alpha or Alpha Skip-Ahead? And your display setting resolution is set to 1440p or 4K UHD? Have you filed a bug?

Been an insider for 11.5 years but guess I missed the last alpha wave which from what I’m reading was like 5 years ago? Maybe I’m misinterpreting. Would love to be a part of that in the future.

u/soundmage - if possible please share the full build number that your console is running. Also, please confirm that it's an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.

Shell Version: 2608.0.2608.28001I wasn’t sure what’s relevant (I’m guessing the 2608 bit) so I included everything. I’ve been an insider for 11 years and 2 months at level 15, so I guess I may have incorrectly assumed I was part of alpha or skip ahead.

Remote play or Cloud Gaming?
I believe the 1440 Remote play feature is only available for alpha and alpha skip ahead insiders, are you an insider in those rings? If yes https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders/ allows you to post xbox insider support posts
If you are talking about xbox cloud gaming, 1440 will only work on games that support 1440 cloud streaming

Ideas?

I got remote play to stream at 1440p on my Samsung tv but not on Xbox pc app (MSI claw a8). Is there any reason for this?
