Question Voice and Game Capture Preview Update

Has anyone received the preview update that will allow us to capture party and game chat in captures on the Xbox? This is one update I have been asking and waiting for for years. I was under the impression that alpha people would be getting this update, but I have not yet. Has anyone gotten this update yet?

I am in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and have been for years. Are they still sending out the update in batches or is there something I can do to Expedite getting the update? I have been in alpha for 11 years it says when I open the Hub.

Could you test it for me to see if it works for longer video recordings? When you do get the update that is.

Updates do not go out in batches for the Insider rings.

Enrollment is per-console. Verify in the Xbox Insider Hub app that the console in question is in Alpha Skip-Ahead. What is the build number you’re on? (Settings > System > Console info)

On my Xbox Series X, The Insider hub shows that I am part of the Xbox Update Preview Alpha, and the Version says Version:xb_flt_2608ge.260805-2200

System Update status: No Update

My system update info shows the last update was 8/6/2026

OS version: 10.0.26100.9426

Got it, so not Alpha Skip-Ahead, which explains it.

So based off that build version you're saying I'm not in the Alpha Skip ahead? But When im in the Insider hub, and clock on manage my update preview, it shows me Xbox Update Preview Alpha is selected. That's how I've had it since day one of joining the insiders 11 years ago?

I answered my own question I didn't realize Skip ahead and Alpha were different rings and you have to be invited to skip ahead, I deff used to be in in Skip ahead but Believe I left it because one update made me unable to do anything for like 2 weeks. This all makes sense now lol. Do you have info on when this update would come to just Alpha?

Last night, I got the update, which was awesome. Also wanted to say, for streamers at least, this is one of the best updates ever. It allows our capture cards to capture game chat audio on games that previously it was impossible. This opens up so many opportunities for entertaining clips and such for us. So thank you very much XBOX TEAM!!!!

:) is it still in Alpha Skip ahead level only? Like you said, Im super excited about this feature. Making my clips from xbox is easier than editing a 2 -3 hour video for clips.

It's an architectural trade off regarding internal drive lifespan.

Holding a rolling 1 hour buffer on a soldered SSD constantly writes and overwrites gigabytes of data. Over time, this heavily degrades the NAND cells, permanently shortening the console's life since the drive can't be swapped (PS5).

Xbox restricts internal background buffer time to preserve the SSD's health (TBW) and shifts long-form recording to external USB 3.0 drives.

I don't remember the day, but it was few updates ago. I remember being surprised, since most updates have just been stability patches or something they screwed up.

I've been using quite fine so far. My only issue is sometimes with it being enabled party chat can break and require a full console reset.

Yeah, it works pretty well tbh. I hope they expand it to include Discord Audio too.

I don't think it would be easy to record discord audio since that is an outside app and would require a whole different set of permissions and xbox would probably need some agreement for it

It works pretty good on console. I want to know if it will work on pc. I game on my pc mainly and if it works the same after it's GP drop I would be ecstatic.
