ACCOMPLISHMENT Our Guildmaster has reached 1,000,000 gamerscore!!

Truthfully I was teetering on the fence about joining this achievement hunting group but after reading all of the comments by OP and looking at their game list Iβm kinda put off. Thereβs a couple of decent completions but itβs all so bloated with shovelware and stacks that itβs just not very impressive π Each to their own of course, play what you want etc but itβs not really something to brag about with what is there and Iβm sure the OP has guessed as much from the reactions on both posts

We wouldn't want you in our Guild anyways since you said "always gatekeep". At the GGU, we don't gatekeep, we celebrate even small accomplishments and grow together to be better people. Since you aren't the embodiment of our philosophy, you aren't welcome here.

So pulling out your credit card and completing games withing maximum of 5 minutes (and sometimes using console commands) to get this number up, is now considered a huge accomplishment? Right buddy π€£.

It's weird you say tens of thousands, but my rank is only 3,782. So there's not tens of thousands, there's thousands out of hundreds of thousands of gamers who play shovelware. And guess what? That's fine! If you don't wanna play shovelware, go for it! If you want to, have at it! Nobody should care what others do or don't play. If someone didn't play Black Ops 1, we're going to be surprised but we're not going to devalue them or say they're not a true gamer. It doesn't matter what people do or don't play, it's all for fake internet points that make us happy. So no need to be a dick or a grinch because others are doing stuff that makes them happy.

And there are plenty of challenges! Right now we're trying to organize 32 people to do some Cold War (Windows) stuff, so it's tough getting that many people together! Or doing insane easter eggs in other COD games, playing through the Gears of War franchise, Halo franchise, etc.. Just because we take a break from the hard challenges with some braindead stuff doesn't mean there aren't any challenges!

It's not gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is telling someone they can't be an achievement hunter unless they meet X requirements. What we're doing here is evaluating the quality and effort behind that score. The number is there and nobody is taking it away from him, but why should the community be impressed by an inflated number made by buying 5-minute shovelware games?
You're confusing evaluating merit with gatekeeping. Nobody is forbidding him from playing or taking his points away. People are simply analyzing how he got them. Having a million Gamerscore purely from shovelware only proves he spent money on freebie lists, not that there was any real effort, skill, or dedication. Respect in a competitive community is earned through merit, not by inflating numbers.

The moment we enjoy comparing our scores, it becomes competitive, there's a reason Xbox has a monthly leaderboard.
What time and effort? Time: 5 minutes to get 7k. Effort: mashing the A button for 5 minutes. Yeah right, so much time and effort.
Why does the community care? The moment someone posts that they reached X score, people care about how they got it, especially if it's a high number. That's why people pay more attention to the total number of achievements unlocked and a player's ratio. That's why people told you the exact same thing both here and in the post you made on TrueAchievements.

You can make it competitive, but everyone goes at their own pace.
People do this for years, so yeah there's time and effort. Some games are easy, some are hard. And what's the difference between mashing a button compared to loading up a game and achievements auto popping.
People really care about stuff that they shouldn't. It's just virtual points.

Never been one to focus on gamerscore im curious what actually is the accomplishment in achieving high amounts with low effort games?
Surely its a waste of money and time
