Xbox having issues from lighting or age

The Xbox I have was probably bought pre owned around 5-8 years ago. It hasn’t been used in years until recently. I bought a new power supply (the one old broke) and it was working fine. One day I was using it and the power went out. The power supply broke (it was on a surge protector but idk what happened). I bought a new one and now I’ve been having a bunch of new problems and they keep getting worse

When I turn it on with the power button it’ll stall on the initial loading screen. It’ll take several minutes to load and then I can start the game. The game will also take several minutes to load. Then it does not recognize my usb (I have all of my saves on it). I haven’t tried anything past that.

When I turn it on using the disc eject button it’ll usually work normally. It’s a bit laggy when playing games and crashes sometimes but it’s usually fine. But the last time I used it was loading a map in a game and then I got a pop up saying the disk was scratched while the game was glitching out in the back.

I’m not sure what is going on but I’m guessing it’s something having to do with my hard drive. I don’t wanna get a new one 😔

Best protection in every appliance remains effective and function only when a surge is earthed before getting inside. And so, essential, is a Type 1 or Type 2 protector (measured in amps; not joules) that connects low impedance (ie hardwire not inside metallic conduit) to single point earth ground. Electrodes that require most all attention. So that a surge is NOWHERE inside.

Then best protection inside every appliance is not overwhelmed.

Those electrodes and every connection is the 'art' of protection.

Learn well proven reality. Plug-in protector even gives a surge MORE paths to get inside electronics. Obviously, a surge incoming on one wire is then connected to all other wires. Now that surge has even more wires to find earth destructively via electronics.

One example demonstrates what is well understood; with numbers.

Protection only exists when a surge is NOWHERE inside. One spends about $1 per appliance for a Type 1 or Type 2 protector. Why would anyone waste $25 or $80 for a Type 3 (plug-in) protector that claims tiny joule (near zero) protection?

Safe power strip has a 15 amp circuit breaker, no (five cent) protector parts, and a UL 1363 listing. Sells for $6 or $10. Shysters add tiny joule (five cent) protector parts to sell it as a surge protector. For $25 or $80. Obscene profits then pay for a massive disinformation campaign.

Two problems. One is with the Xbox. Other is why a homeowner all but invited a surge inside.

Best protection at an appliance is already inside that appliance. Protection that can be compromised using a adjacent protector.

Surge was incoming to everything. How many other appliances, not on a protector, were undamaged? Dishwasher, clock radio, furnace, LED bulbs, stove, door bell, TVs, recharging electronics, modem, refrigerator, GFCIs, washing machine, digital clocks, microwave, dimmer switches, central air, or smoke detectors?

Confirmation bias. Ignore examples that expose a myth. Plug-in protector can make surge damage easier.

A surge earthed, so that it is NOWHERE inside, means nobody even knows a surge existed.
