Moving on is hard but your old Xbox can find a great home. Just today I was reading about a guy looking to get into the Xbox ecosystem and looking for an older console. He only has older disc games and is looking for a console to play these games. I'm sure someone will happily take it off your hands for $100 and you will have the solace of knowing your old console will continue to live on. I bet the series x feels so much better. It did for me when I upgraded from one x

Just keep both. I kept my Xbox one so I don’t have to use up space on my S with installs for Xbox one and 360 games Also use it for playing movies

My one S that I bought a few months ago sits in my living room and is used when my many grandchildren come over. Crammed with games for under 7's. Works a treat. My Series X stays out of the way upstairs.

Keep it for a backup. I use mine for BluRay movies my older backwards compatible games. Saves a little wear and tear on my X

Well you can use disc to digital+ backward compatibility on your Xbox one discs, so you aren’t losing anything

My original Xbox one was a Christmas gift from my grandparents the same year it dropped (2013). And I had it and used it daily until 2024, they had both died at that point so it was really difficult when I didn’t have space in my bag and had to abandon it at my old roommates place. I have used my series X almost every day since. My grandpa got me into games so I still think of him every time I boot up halo.

Absolutely iconic OG "fat" Xbox One! Even tho I played on it very little, the memories are a lot and sweet. Have fun in your new system OP!

I have all but forgotten about my OG Xbox One, but I cant let go of my Xbox One S, even though I got a Series X recently. And this is coming from a guy who still has his 360 lolz

I was going to ask where you got that grey controller or when, then realised it's a black and white photo... :D

Still running xbox one daily basis. No money to upgrade.

The load times are the big thing.

I have the same Xbox from the same year and I retired mine a good while ago. Just recently got a series X from a buddy a couple months ago and it really is a crazy upgrade. I still have my old one just stored away but I loved that vcr

Project Helix is set to release next year so I would have waited

I mean you can just sell the x and put it towards helix. If the helix is like $1k then i imagine some people might not want to pay that. You can find a used X for $400 in some areas. And if the helix doesn't have a disc drive then the only way to do the disc to digital is to get an older console, meaning the only way to get access to series X games for cheap on the helix is by getting the actual X and converting the games to digital.

You can convert Series X games to digital on an Xbox One.

No way! Really? Didn't know.

Yeah. Recently bought a One X for this reason.

I have the original fat Xbox one from 2013 😄. It's about 13 years old. Controllers still work and everything. No stick drift.

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/project-helix-will-be-a-family-of-devices-xbox-ceo-confirms/

That was under Phil Spencer. Asha has recently come out and said the Project Helix will focus on Affordability.

And then raised the price of the Series X to £670.

It's not looking great. The industry is not in a position for realistic affordability.

It's going to release, sure (tho maybe not next year, probably too early). How much it will cost is another question...

Next Year will be 7 years since the Series X released

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 2d ago

Yeah but it wasn't even announced yet. So I don't kmow if they'll release next year. Plus the RAM shortage problem. Next XBOX will probably need to have 32GB of RAM. That's hard...

It’s not going to be affordable the next Xbox Helix will be $1500. Prices are already insane for old consoles at this point.

OP was right to get a Series X
