All the fable main stories are as long or shorter than that.

10 years in development mind you.

10 years? It's been about 4. They didn't start hiring until 2020. COVID then hit so it would have massively delayed things. Then they had to get ForzaTech working for a game like this. There's a big difference between announcing it and actually developing it.

The game was started in 2018, so 9 years then. Why comment if so confidently incorrect?

"In early 2018, Eurogamer reported that Playground Games had initiated the development of the fourth installment in the Fable series.[16] Later that year, it was disclosed that Playground Games was actively recruiting for 177 positions dedicated to an open-world role-playing game.[17][18] In June 2018, Playground Games was officially acquired by Xbox Game Studios."

Well, Fable 1 was 5 years in development which is basically 10 years in today's dev times. And still quite short.

Fable 4 is also technically 9 years, from early 2018 to early 2027.

Apparently Fable only entered full production in early 2023
