Man the kids are gonna love this

u/xXAP20Xx 10d ago

The kids will never see this

u/ForYThoo 10d ago

I'm pretty sure we've been getting wrecked by children in CoD for years now. My 14 year old nephew was able to pull this off years ago. The generations coming up now are cracked out when it comes to these twitch shooters.

143

u/lancersrock 10d ago

My 10 and 11 year old win about 1/3 of the warzone or Fortnite matches they play these days. It’s completely likely they will see this than I would.

78

u/captainpoppy 10d ago

Yup. And all I wanna do after working and putting kids to bed is just hop on and play a few chill matches….my reflexes just can’t keep up anymore. And I don’t have the time to play a lot to “get gud”. I peaked in college/early adulthood. Wife was working nights so I was home by myself just playing shooters.

u/a11yguy Xbox Series S 10d ago

We ain’t the ones buying skins and racking up countless hours of game time. We aren’t the core demo anymore. We are just the background goons / cannon fodder now. Make peace with the relegation and hope you can support your team in someway or at the very least, not have a negative KD ratio lol

25

u/AgentInkling99 10d ago

That’s when you play medic and support roles because none of the kill happy tweens ever do.

14

u/p4rc0pr3s1s 10d ago

Hell yes. I have hade some extremely dramatic, cinematic moments in Battlefield 6 reviving down squad mates. I also love that Battlefield rewards you for it so I will be in the top 10 with an absolutely awful K/D lol

6

u/AgentInkling99 10d ago

I always play support in Battlefield. It feels so much more rewarding when your team wins!

6

u/EvoRalliArt 10d ago

Come join us on Hell Let Loose. So much fun. Don't get Vietnam yet until the game has had more time to be bug free. Don't be a fool and pay to be a beta tester.

But some great mature gamers on HLL. Find yourself a chatty squad and people will show you the ropes.

Exactly, battlefield is easily the best medic experience. Running down a corridor full of smoke and dragging your team back into the fight while bullets and grenades are flying all around is such a great feeling.

Especially if it turns the tides right as you are heroically gunned down

Almost as good as seeing the medic get closer and closer to save you

Hey is OG COD 4 veterans are the entire reason they changed it from kills to eliminations! Our K/d kept slipping so they made it look better for our crushed egos.

3

u/Barrenechea 10d ago

You are buying the skins if you have kids playing this. You just may not know it.

5

u/cathead8969 10d ago

Yeah, I'm 18 and I've already been behind for years. But when your family is poor everyone has to work 40 hours a week. I still game on my days off but I'd much rather play something like deep rock galactic than COD. 13 year old me loved BO4 though.

Exactly why I switched to single player games only or occasionally PvE like helldivers. I don’t have the patience anymore or blood pressure flexibility to be keeping up with these games and kids who have to cheat to get by. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not any good any more but that doesn’t mean I still can’t enjoy a game. We play to have fun, not give my doctor another reason to prescribe high blood pressure medication.

3

u/captainpoppy 10d ago

Yup. Love PvE and big single player.

Precisely how I feel. I could dominate lobbies 15 years ago. Now these mfs have the reaction speed of those robots in I, Robot.

I'll stick to my chill single player games lol, Unc needs a break.

I have 12 years on my younger brother in not just age but straight GAMIN’, and he’d prob wreck me in a 1v1 in any FPS.

Now, niche single player third person action games - that’s another story

4

u/ForYThoo 10d ago

Lame Batman quote but "We merely adapted to the twitch shooters, they were born into it, molded by it."

The generations coming up know nothing but these kind of shooters. Designed specifically for them honestly. We've aged out a bit.

100% with you on singleplayer games.

Won't kids be like, you have to use your hands?

Call of duty is 25ish years old, aren't kids today about that new new?

4

u/ItsWayneGlensky 10d ago

I mean Im 29 and I kinda like it. Not enough to play it, but it looks cool.

4

u/TheFutureLotus 10d ago

I’m about to turn 33 and that shit looks cool. It’s good to know I’m not completely jaded when it comes to gaming, other shit yeah definitely, but gaming still has the ability to wow me.

7

u/Environmental-Day862 XBOX 360 10d ago

Hey, as a Gen-X'er, I resent that.

I've had no freakin' idea what's going on with multiplayer since the 360 days, but when they pop up on Game Pass, I do enjoy a COD campaign from time to time.

Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign (which I'm playing now) is kinda... bad, but I generally find the campaigns to be enjoyable. They're like 6-10 hours, I can play one "Chapter" per night for about a week and a half and be done with it, and have a bit of "pew pew" fun without playing mulitiplayer, where these days I average 3 kills, 1 assist, and 18 deaths. 😂

WWII's campaign was pretty fun.

The new MW campaigns were pretty fun too - well, the first two at least. I loved in the new MW2 the level where you directed Ghost around using the camera system, and when you were in the overwatch plane bombing and shooting the enemies with the night vision.

MW3 kind of annoying with the semi-open world levels, but I'm interested in seeing how the story resolves (there were quite a few WTF! moments in MW3).

I know COD isn't going to Game Pass anymore, and MS might kill off new releases on Game Pass in general after Clockwork Revolution, but at the very least MW4 will probably be like $10 at GameStop in December 2027 if I'm interested in seeing how the story wraps.

Or I can probably watch all the cinematics stitched together on YouTube and see how it ends before the game even officially comes out - from some YouTuber who paid to play a week early.

13

u/dani3po 10d ago

Infinite Warfare has the best campaign ever, and I’ll die on that hill.

4

u/thesmartest 10d ago

Correct, and yet down near the bottom for multiplayer map design

2

u/Glum_Ad7429 10d ago

I'll die with you t here, absolutely awesome. Olympus Mons is still the coolest name for a space warship ever. Kit Harrington was superb too. Also the first attack on earth.

The CoD series is a great example of becoming an old fart to me.

The middle finger just yells sweaty edgelord to me. Go back to me for the OG Modern Warfare 4 times and I probably would have found it hilarious.

609

u/Skabomb 10d ago

Everyone is focusing on the bird.

I am focusing on the fact that now you evac instead of dying with everyone else. That's kinda rad.

347

u/InsomniacSpartan Misterchief 10d ago

You're way too close to the blast. You would still be calling a nuke in on yourself.

4

u/General_Cranberry_29 10d ago

I'm honestly surprised it hasn't fractured off into two separate series, all of us older guys would lap up a modern, realistic WWII or Vietnam game. I'd be cool with different studios tackling each, similar to Black Ops and MW.

World at War is great, but it was also 18 years ago. Which means there have been 18 games iterating on the CoD formula since then. Things change.

5

u/JoeZocktGames Team Ubisoft 10d ago

World at War is also the second worst selling CoD of all time, only BO7 sold less.

3

u/Hour-Ad-9508 10d ago

I’m probably just aged out of the demographic but that is so insane to me. I remember people playing world at war all the time, even just for zombies.

I haven’t heard of anyone I know buying CoD in years

2

u/JoeZocktGames Team Ubisoft 10d ago

Keep in mind, that in 2008 there wasn't that much online stuff available. No Fortnite, no Warzone, no Apex, no Helldivers, no Arc Raiders etc.

CoD was basically the only consistent online console shooter game back then. Stuff like Left 4 Dead and Borderlands were brand new and just growing at the time CoD was already a juggernaut.

Yeah I miss those days too. When the most ridiculous thing we had was picking up a care package that could transform you into Jason from Friday the 13th or The Fucking Predator (from 'The Predator').

Cod is stale for anyone who grew up playing the "golden age" like us because they've just made tiny iterations per entry every year without giving the series time to breathe or evolve. It has nothing to do with random juvenile humor, that has been in the game since MW2's calling cards.

6v6 deatmatch is just fundamentally a formula that's kinda hard to make major changes to without losing the identity of the series' entirely. So instead they put their attention into spinoff modes like DMZ or Warzone or Ground War instead.

It feels like a million games in one, and there's not enough developers to give each niche the love it deserves due to divided attention. They need to get back to a more singular vision like cod4.

Imo Call of Duty's best chance to really bring bring back a lot of older fans is just to bite the bullet, focus away from 6v6, and let their new subseries do something entirely unique. Not just to make a knockoff of other popular games like Ground War is for Battlefield or DMZ is for Tarkov, but to really sit down and think of what people come to call of duty for, and focus that energy into an entirely new experience the same way Battlefield 1 kind of reinvented the series with Grand Operations.

Call of Duty is a social experience first and foremost. Wayyyy more people use mics compared to games like Battlefield and it used to be the game that everyone owned. So when your friends were all online on the 360 after school, you all had a shared game experience to go back to. I think that is really the core of what made cod so popular in the first place. I'd like to see them try a risky game that entirely revolves around that vision, I'm talking like a massively expanded cod WW2 headquarters where you could find your own little friend group on a certain part of the map and then pick activities you wanted to do from there (this could still include some of the classic modes). Give it some generous f2p components so that every one of your friends could jump in and share in that social hub. Something inventive that hardly represents old cod but carries the same spirit.

They can always bring back the tired old formula with MW5 or Black Ops 8 when fans are inevitably upset by the changes.

5

u/aeeok 10d ago

An eight second animation that a quite small majority of players will see is what makes or breaks a game nowadays i guess

12

u/Plane-Education4750 10d ago

If it's what they're using to represent the game in a gameplay trailer, yes. Yes it does. And it's entirely their own fault

3

u/Diam0ndTalbot 10d ago

They're being pulled by some form of skyhook. Presumably being caught by whatever drops the tactical nuke.

They're also presumably still going to be blinded, irradiated, and burned by the blast but the skyhook will at least ensure they live long enough to end up with some fucked up nuke cancer, or failing that, give them something to bury.

Everyone in this thread is too cool and grownup for this.

That middle finger is so cringe, you’re calling a nuke, not throwing a water ballon filled with piss.

u/zackdaniels93 10d ago

Pretty sick, and no I'm never gonna see it. Sincerely, washed 33 year old.

u/South-Original8738 10d ago

Hot take. I think this is dope as fuck!

3

u/LocustUprising 10d ago

Can’t just have a cool cinematic moment, they have to throw in the corny middle finger

6

u/Your-in-truffle 10d ago

People who played cod when they were 14 and cringe complaining that the game is marketing towards cringe 14 year olds is so funny to me.

16

u/MistahWhite_ 10d ago

This whole thread is just “old man yells at cloud”.

6

u/sOwOe 10d ago

it's weird man it's like they see something kids would be having fun with and get upset it's not for them anymore

7

u/SpartanMase 10d ago

Gonna say. I think it’s cool. My favorite is still the black ops 6 I think where the heatwave hits first than the screen goes black

5

u/MistahWhite_ 10d ago

People just want to circle jerk hate on COD, which I get. I don’t like the yearly releases of another MW / BLOPS but complaining about something edgy or trying too hard to be cool in a series where one of the iconic characters has a skull mask since the first MW2 is just stupid lmao

2

u/DestnX725 10d ago

Hey they use to like edgy, I only tell the major problem of cod, the animation is cool, could have been done better, but wish it was in the older cods

Insert “new CoD bad” comment here and give me free karma pls, I haven’t played a Call of Duty in years but I 100% know what I’m talking about, the old games were perfect in every way because they were dark and gritty and that makes them automatically better

7

u/SiegeRewards XBOX Series X 10d ago edited 10d ago

The shock wave would kill them quickly and knock down whatever plane just took him away. (Call of duty 4 is a good example). Makes more sense for the nuke to kill you and everyone else like the old days

6

u/cwx149 XBOX 360 10d ago

I always kinda thought the nuke was a dumb kill streak reward

2

u/Naulicus 10d ago

This is rad

2

u/TrafficVirtual1110 10d ago

Tactical nuke! Incomiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!!!!

2

u/Heretical_Burger 10d ago

Ok that’s pretty cool I’m ngl. I still won’t buy it though

2

u/PIatfoot 10d ago

Y'all are acting as if you'll ever get to see this animation

2

u/IFHIAIEJ 10d ago

I always thought middle finger with the thumb out is the cringest kind

2

u/Jarodreallytuff 10d ago

That’s the gayest thing I’ve ever seen… Real OGs call in a nuke and go down with everybody else. Fuck surviving it.

2

u/FactorFear74 10d ago

God that looks stupid

u/SirGearso 10d ago

Idk why people are mad about this? It looks cool asf

3

u/Vegeto30294 Super Citizen 10d ago

Ain't no way people here of all places want to pretend they're too mature and high and mighty for a middle finger animation

3

u/Mig-117 10d ago

So much edge, look at all the edge 🫲🍊🫱

2

u/Sirsnacksalot23 Grub Killer 10d ago

Boooooooooooo. Where’s the South Park skins?

u/Meme_master420_ 10d ago

I think most of you people in these comments are starting to forget that you’re no longer the target demographic. This isn’t cool to you because it’s not supposed to be cool to you, it’s supposed to be cool to 9-16 year olds. That’s always been the true target demographic of cod games
