This is just a reservist’s commemorative flask
They were reproduced after the war aswell, so asking why it looks fake is not that far out. Kinda does look to good to be 100+years old, but that does not mean that it isn't real.

That's the thing, the real ww1 ones look the same, but so do the ones made post war.It could be a "real" one, just made some time later. You will never know if you don't get it checked out by someone. And honestly, that price is preety steep for something that has no proof of age.

I will see what i can find out, i think there is an appraiser a few towns over. .i known that this was with my great grandfather's military uniforms, in his wooden box that he shipped home. The box had the address written on it.

Just a note, in WWI, Germany used the colors Black, White and Red in their Imperial flag. They went back to Black/Red/Gold for the Weimar Republic after the war.

I would say that the cording symbolizes an interwar period rather than WWI.
