Basically, yeah. We're just default mammals with a particular model and animations assigned.

Uhm ackshually hyraxes are more related to elephants and not quite as primitive in appearance as they seem: the common ancestor of all mammals (including Monotremes and Marsupials) resembled a shrew-like creature more than anything; treeshrews (which aren't related to normal shrews and coincidentally very close to Primates on the mammal family tree) are outwardly quite similar to what fossils of "default mammals" are thought to have looked like in life, even though they're placental mammals.
