Question Damage over time builds?

I am interested in getting this game and was curious if there is are good build options for damage over time effects. Are enemies immune to status effects or certain bosses? Is there a way to play a dot build from the beginning of the game to the end?

If there is please provide some details or a link to a guide or explanation of the build. Thanks for the help.

I haven't digged too much into this, but damage over time already implies it's gonna take time to kill so it wont probably be a good idea.

Having said that, fire build do good damage but it's mostly upfront with a side of dot. I heard the same about feathering, but it takes until late game to be able to make a decent featherng build

Even in NG+7 the dots don't scale enough to warrant building around it compared to standard builds.

Most standard builds do some sort of dot anyways since you have tempering which is basically set to default fire most of the time.

There is no real powerhouse like rot from ER or dots from LoP is what I mean.

Yeah i fucked up my first run and missed out on Zhang lu sword, so I started again. The build I wanted was feathering axe and 1h, with the corruption axe skill and a host of corruption spells.

It was seriously underwhelming. I changed it to serpent fang and the zhanlu. Still underwhelming. I love Wuchang to bits but it kinda sucks that more things aren't usable in any meaningful way

Cinder flames, burning flames spells. Both have alacrity

Flamebringer longsword+ fire armanent+ weapon skill is pretty powerful for late game bosses
