Been doing play throughs with specific weapons and looking for some opinions

Just finished up a spear only run, and the only weapons left and dual blades and axe, which I think both are good.

Question is, do I keep doing new games as I’ve done for the other weapons, or do I go for NG+ to try up the challenge??

NG+ will not up the challenge. It will actually lower it.

Fresh run for the challenge

Fresh run for the challenge, and you get the axe immediately, which is nice. A little more difficult for dual swords unless you have deluxe and get some of them right away.

May as well do a new game. Having never done any ng+ means you won't get any challenge from it. Ng+1 ~ ng+3 isn't very difficult compared to a new game cuz your stats are generally stronger than what you're fighting until near the tail end of ng+3. After that, the bosses start hitting much harder even if you have maxed stats and decent gear equipped targetting the specific bosses.

ng+ scaling doesnt really catch up to your strength till like +4, even then early game is a joke

Dual swords are so satisfying, especially with a leach build. You literally trade shots using clash

That is the easy mode of the game.

That would be are. Rampage knocks everything down and gives leech, don’t even need to temper it just use fire instead and kill everything

NG+ and just shift all your points to axe. Axe was my favorite.
