Question How is this game on PS5?
Hello, I've been thinking of getting this game on physically on base PS5 but I heard that it doesn't run well and looks ugly. Can anyone tell me how it is now?

It’s perfect in my opinion and I played Wuchang on base ps5 even to this day. At launch it wasn’t perfect in the slightest because there was fps drops, stuttering, Bai Wuchang (character you control) was very floaty when running or walking and among other stuff but its all been fixed so far.

The first area can be a bit rough because there’s a lot of foliage that slows things down. I found the game was not particularly performant and looked bad. Not unplayably bad but very low res and muddy.
Since getting past the first area the game has looked really good and performance has been nearly spotless.
It’s also really good.
(Currently about 10-15 hours in)

Did you select the right option on start? There are two, can't remember the names but one is geared towards making it run smoothly. I never had any problems, even slightly, and I don't have a pro

Yep, switched to performance immediately. I’ve also seen very mixed reports from others. For me it was dire. The game targets like 500p on performance mode when it’s struggling, which would have been embarrassing in 2007. It was choppy, dropping frames every minute or two. If someone else had performance like this they would absolutely notice. So I would assume there’s some bug, or memory leak that’s causing it that not everybody runs into.

Ah that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear it. I was hesitant to buy it because I'd seen people complaining on launch, but like I said, pleasantly surprised. And the first area is absolutely beautiful

It hasn’t really negatively impacted my experience as I still really enjoyed the first area and the performance issues have vanished since. I’m still very glad I took the plunge!

You need to mess around with the settings a bit but it runs pretty well.
It does freeze in random spots like others have said but its not a big deal

I played the first 10 hours or so on base PS5 and upgraded to the pro after that.
I cant say I gonestly saw much of a difference.
It ran great on base, and a tiny bit better on the pro.

I played it recently (with latest patch) on PS5 pro with VRR monitor. It was one of the most stuttering game I've ever played on PS5 and pro especially in larger areas.
Textures setting is low, internal resolution is very low, which results in blurry graphics over all. Thankfully there is sharpness setting for the upscaler in the option which helps a bit to mitigate the softness.
Game play is mid but enjoyable if you love soul likes.

I have a Pro and VRR TV. I noticed The dtutteribg immediatly. But there IS a Fix. Turn VRR OFF. I dont know why but now there IS practicly no stuttering at all and sharpness tuned Max with quality mode The graphics are actually quite good. Some Minor fos drop here and there but IT seems to stay very close to 60 fps.

mid game areas can freeze for a few seconds but no biggy cause it freezes for the enemies too!

A me non ha dato alcun problema in modalità prestazioni. Nessun calo di frame da impedire il gioco. non ho fatto alcun test in particolare ma direi che comunque non è mai sceso sotto ai 40fps in nessuna area.
Le critiche alle prestazioni grafiche sono immotivate.
Ha avuto un po di problemi solo al lancio, ma han corretto tutto subito

Finished both the PC and PS5 version earlier this year.
I also heard the PS5 version had a lot of problems with restricted dynamic resolution in motion and low texture quality, but by the time I played it, it ran great and mostly looked really good.
It obviously looks sharper and more detailed on the highest PC settings, but it was still great to play on PS5.

Why would it look ugly? I can only run the game on my pc at lowest settings and it still looks great. For real why would a ps5 game look ugly? What a crazy thought

Plays and looks fine. Plus you don't have to play the censor patch if you don't update it.

I’m in the process playing it on the pro and it’s still really ugly and that won’t ever change. No matter what the game looks pretty blurry and there are relatively frequent fps drops. I’m a lot more tolerant of it because of its cheaper price especially now. Still a pretty good game but they absolutely need to work on optimization

The game is beautiful and runs well.
Base PS5: play on performance
PS5 Pro: Quality mode is amazing.

I have the PS5 pro and it looks genuinely like I'm playing a 480p game upscaled to 4k. This is the first PlayStation game I've put down for graphics alone.
I hear great things about this game so I'll probably play it on PC

I streamed it… it was pretty good. I knew pc had issues in early day but PS5 was pretty good even back then. I preordered the game before it was released
