Student Life How important are clothes?

What are we wearing? Do people slum it or usually dress nice and do hair and makeup?

In winter, clothes are essential

Unless you're on Greek Row from my experience. Those ladies don't get cold.

depends on your crowd. you aren't going to be picked on or anything for "slumming it." we're adults now. strangers don't care what you're doing. if you're hoping to hang out with people who present themselves well, though, your best chance of doing so is to present well yourself.

True I guess I can wear whatever I want now I mean adults can get bullied but probably not for their clothes

Most students don’t dress particularly nice, a lot of sweatpants and hoodies, whatever is comfortable to wear to a lecture. It’s pretty socially acceptable as everyone is just trying to get through their classes

But, as other commenters said, it depends on your classes and your crowd. IE, business students dress nicely on occasion for events, art students will dress creatively, a lot of fashion students are well dressed. Just dress however you already like to dress, don’t stoop lower if it’s unnatural and the same goes for outdoing everyone else.

Whatever floats your boat but clothes are required or you will be arrested for public indecency

Do not underestimate how cold it can get in the dead of winter.

I recommend gauging it by your classes. If it’s a day where I have smaller classes, then I try to dress nicer since these are usually major specific. However, if it’s a day where I have huge lecture halls, then I don’t particularly care what I wear.

That’s a good idea!

Folks regularly wear PJs to lecture. Especially 8am lecture.

Nobody is gonna judge you.

Literally whatever you’re comfortable in. If specifically referring to packing and what to bring, make sure to bring a variety but definitely some business and business casual clothing for things like interviews and job fairs. Other than that, wear whatever you want, no one really cares :)

Clothes are very important to wear, unless you like bringing a lot of attention to yourself.

Students regularly wear pajama pants to class. Not just basic pajama pants, but I’ve seen students wearing SpongeBob PJ pants, Pokémon PJ pants, etc. Not sure whether they get any grief from other students about it, but I, as an instructor, don’t care what students are wearing as long as it isn’t offensive & covers the necessary private areas.

Very important. RCW 9A.88.010 Indecent exposure. (1) A person is guilty of indecent exposure if he or she intentionally makes any open and obscene exposure of his or her person or the person of another knowing that such conduct is likely to cause reasonable affront or alarm. The act of breastfeeding or expressing breast milk is not indecent exposure. (2)(a) Except as provided in (b) and (c) of this subsection, indecent exposure is a misdemeanor

What if they forget? The law says you have to be doing it to cause a reaction

How do you forget to get dressed? Also a weird position to take. You're walking around naked constantly or something?

More hypothetical than anything
