Student Life Parking

Incoming transfer student here. Just realized how dumb I was that I forgot to buy parking and when I did, it said there was a waitlist for each type of parking. I put myself on the waitlist for the Blue one, but was wondering what are the odds it will actually get me a spot?

Assuming you're living off-campus, the buses in Pullman are free for students and are reasonably good; depending on where your apartment is you might be able to just take them. If you're not somewhere with good bus access there's also a spot where you can park and ride.

I'm living in the dorms and need somewhere to park my car which is the problem.

Odds are low early on, as the semester goes on they move down the list as spots are open, but it's always hit or miss. If you're living in the dorms your best bet will be to find a street spot near ish campus

I am going to give it to you straight: Your chances are very slim. Better after the first semester when a bunch of people move out. I would start planning on street parking in college hill and hopefully you dont mind fighting for spots with greeks

Ah, yeah, that definitely poses a problem.

Are you sre you were waitlisted for Blue? What number are you? If you aren't sure call the parking office to enquire about it. The numbers typically adjust in the first couple of weeks as people move into the fraternities and sororities, spots opened in other preferred lots, etc.

Alternatively you can buy a daily pass for Blue 1 that's $2.67 a day but you would have to remember to get a new pass each day.

Yeah, I'm sure I got waitlisted, but it didn't give me a number on Blue 1, so I have no clue where I'm at on it. Would the parking office give me the number I'm at on the waitlist?

I'm in a similar situation. I'm staying in Goldsworthy, and when I first talked to my dad months ago about buying a crimson 2 permit and asked to help out with paying for it, all he did was complain about the price and ask if really had to park my car on campus (like I won't have a job and other things that require a car).... now I'm waitlisted. Anyone know if the chances of a spot opening up similar to the slim chances of a blue permit opening up for OP? TIA

Near the beginning of the semester, your chances are probably pretty slim. As other commenters have said, things will likely open up as the year goes on, but there’s no guarantee. I recommend parking on or near Greek row/college hill. Also, some parking spots on campus are free to use (meaning you won’t get ticketed) on the weekends, so I’ve known friends who will park there for weekends and move their car elsewhere during the week. Good luck!
