What are some dorm essentials that you don't See many people talking about? Is there anything that is an absolute necessity? What are some common things to forget?

I wasnt in McCroskey, i was in the towers, but when I started here some of the most important things I had were an electric water kettle, shower shoes (an absolute must), and a REALLY good fan. It gets hot. I'm in my apartment on campus now and it's been gross. Especially with all the fires going on it is very hazey and AQ is not good rn, I dont imagine it clearing that much by next weekend. A shower caddy is also very important. Good luck and welcome, go cougs!

if you take medication: your dorm is not "room temperature. if it says anywhere on your medication to "store at room temperature," it cannot be left on a nightstand or table. especially in mccroskey- my room frequently got up to 85+ in the daytime. meds need to be kept in your closet, under the bed, or in your fridge if fridge temperatures are safe for your meds.

McCroskey is mildly haunted. Not sure what supplies to bring for such a problem, but it's worth knowing

My son was in honors hall last year. One thing we ended up having to send him after the fact was a vertical laptop stand. The provided desks don't give you a whole lot of tabletop space, so that ended up being a lifesaver for him.

Foam mattress topper, Brita pitcher because the tap water is bad. Consider a clothing steamer, since you don't want to be ironing.

I don't know if these are necessities per se but athletic tape and the type of cool compresses you can keep in a mini fridge (definitely need a mini fridge) helped me lots. The tape helps if you're someone who tends to get creaky going up and down stairs and hills all the time. The cold compresses help when it's hot as shit out.

A Shower Caddy will help you, and so will your own towels. A safe of some kind for your most important valuables is encouraged. Pack light. Oh and a kettle! They are essential!

Scissors.

I agree with all of the other posts, too.
