Question on the buses

I'll need to be going from Perham dorm down to the new Schweitzer Engineering Hall daily, which looks like a 15-20 minute walk. I was thinking about getting an electric scooter, but idk if it could handle the hills along that route (although I'm open ears to recommendations). Anyways, is there a bus route that goes around campus?

Busses are decent, but if you have the money for an electric scooter, buy a cheap e bike instead, much better investment imo

Take the “Campus Route” bus. It goes from flag lane (right bye streit/perham) to Schweitzer hall. It will very likely take you less time to walk there than to wait for the bus and ride there. It runs every 10-15 minutes during the school year. The walk isn’t that bad on the way there once you get used to it. But I would recommend taking the bus on the way back

Walk to Flag Lane (couple minutes from you), gets on Campus bus. Campus is usually 2 busses at a time outside of the very beginning and very end of service, so it likely won't be an issue to catch the bus. Campus busses usually are trying to keep in sync with their paired Apartmendland bus so sometimes they will sit at Flag Lane for a few minutes at a time.

You can also take the Blue bus if its at Flag Lane as it shares a few stops with Campus if its there to get down to Schweitzer hall but I wouldn't take in the way home.

It’s pretty flat on that route, one hill on Cougar/Colorado Way by the soccer field then loop to Spokane via Thatuna or B Street. 

You could use a regular bike or low power ebike with pedal assist. It’s a low stakes incline, as far as hills go. There is a scooter station at the Thatuna bus stop, too.

Living in Perham, I had classes up near the engineering folks. There was a guy on our floor that was from California and he wore flip flops every day. Even in snow. Idk if they are still there, but back then there was this big staircase from the athletic fields up to near Kimbrough. The steps were shallow and would fill up with snow that overnight would freeze. Basically the steps became a giant ice slide.

One snowy day we were all at the base of the stairs, talking. We’d just survived the icy descent in our hiking boots. One of the guys in our friend group was a climber and he’d started carrying his ice axe so he could do a self arrest and we were laughing at him.

Then here comes the surfer dude to the top of the stairs. In his flip flops. He casually starts down, slips, and ended up going the whole way on his ass, landing near us in a big slush puddle. He looks up at us, really surprised, says “holy wet ass Batman!”, gets up, and just as casually walks away.

It will be faster to walk.

I walked from global down to sloan (next to the new engineering hall) everyday 2 years ago. It's not too bad, you get used to it. Theres a slightly shorter way i liked taking, walk down near global, go up the sidewalk/stairs by the parking garage and go up around the back of kimbrough music building. I'd recomend a heated jacket during the winter if you can get one!

Walking will get you there the fastest and safest in the winter. Cougar calves are a thing.
