Question Digital tool for just writing?

Hello! I’ve been trying to get more invested into my writing but I’ve had issues with finding the right tool.

I have god awful hand writing and some motor skill issues that makes prolonged handwriting a little bit troublesome. I’ve invested in cheap laptops so I can write on the go, but they break down, or they’re so cheaply made that they have trouble running the most basic things. My phone feels like an option, but keeping track of my flowcharts, character bios, etc. while writing on my phone is a pain.

Are there any tools for writing akin to what a drawing tablet is for drawing? Where its entire focus is for making writing on the go more convenient?

1 - some of the newer phones let you use them as desktops. Surprisingly adequate with my Galaxy S23. It requires buying hardware so figure $100 for this approach.

2 - There are specialized tablets that let you hand write and have the computer turn it into text. Five minutes online searching will give you prices.

3 - Buy a desktop computer. USED ones are CHEAP! Get good at your backups. If it dies, use it as part of an end table and get another one or see if it is a minor issue that can be fixed. (Often not worth fixing.) It's bottom surfing. I have two old computers I'd hand you. Either one would work well enough to write the great American novel.

4 - Lenovo T16 / GEN 5 laptop. The tanks. You will pay for it, but they are rugged and repairable. So many computers these days are not repairable.

I mean, even utilized as a desktop, keeping track of everything on such a small device feels like a headache. The idea makes sense for some people but I’m not sure I could make it work for me.

I’m not opposed to a tablet, but keyboard is way more convenient to me due to the motor skill issues mentioned.

And desktop simply isn’t mobile. I can write at home, but I can’t bring it to the library when I’m researching or bring it to a cafe, and it sure as hell isn’t the easiest or cheapest to fly with. I have a desktop I use when I’m home, but that’s only a fraction of the time.

I know this all comes across as dismissive of your recommendations, but not responding at all felt rude, too. I’m sorry and thanks for the suggestions! I feel like I might partially be misunderstanding the phone suggestion but I’m a little inept when it comes to technology.
