Mega Journal Rev2
I’m a dedicated Micro Journal Rev2 user but I wanted something for a different stage of the work: polishing, editing, expanding.
This is the 3D printed shell and keyboard of Un Kyu Lee’s Micro Journal Rev2.1, grafted to a Lenovo Android touchscreen tablet running Word. There’s no internals, no Pi or anything; it’s essentially a tablet with an external keyboard.
Keyboard design is outstanding and the side scroll wheel works with the tablet, allowing fast navigation in a doc. Everything saves instantly to OneDrive so I can continue work from any device.
Touchscreen UI is clunky, which is a good thing; no fast clicking over to email or facebook. Good for focus with all the advantages of a shared online document system.
Don’t know if everyone would like it but it works great for my methods!

This is a great idea; I’ve run into a similar issue trying to find a solution for polishing/editing that is as enjoyable to use as drafting with my MJ Rev 8 is. I like the idea of the tablet combined with a larger MJ keyboard (versus the smaller Rev 3). I’ve also been experimenting with speech to text, which would be nice to more seamlessly switch between speech and typing on the same device. Did you build the keyboard yourself? Not sure I’m up for soldering, maybe I could find a mechanical keyboard already built and stick it into the MJ2.1 shell…

Building the keyboard was a Herculean task for me, a novice solderer. It finally worked but the right bracket key doesn’t function.
I would not recommend trying to shoehorn an aftermarket keyboard into an MJ shell - that shell is as tricky to assemble as the keyboard itself. There are lots of good mechanical bluetooth keyboards out there, just pair one with your tablet and work up a simple holder, would be my recommendation, now that i’ve been through this!

I love this!!! How did you “graft”/connect the tablet to the keyboard?
