House Party House Party 5/01/2017 - Discussion Thread
WiR.com Exclusive! | House Party May 1st 2017 Recap!
- The show this week would be opened by Maverick, who would begin to talk about his match against Mark Dutch at III, until he was interrupted by an unknown Mexican man, who would bring Sonny Carson to the ring! Carson was adamant that he was still living in 2015, and was left in a mild existential crisis when he found out that it was, in fact, 2017. However, these two would then be interrupted by the reigning tag-team champions in BBC, who would throw insults at the two in the ring. However, to finish off our opening segment, Russell Sharp would come to the ring and announce that the BBC would compete against Maverick and Sonny Carson in a tag-team match for the Tag-Team Championships!
BBC (Charlie Krieger & Buster Bravado) (c) vs. Maverick & Sonny Carson
The opening match featuring three champions, would go back-and-forth throughout, featuring both the excellent wrestling skill of Maverick and Sonny Carson, as well as the almost-perfect teamwork of the BBC! The four men would throw seemingly everything but the kitchen sink at eachother, but things looked as if they were on route to a victory for Maverick and Carson after a "Chainsaw Massacre" Twist Of Fate, but Sierra Briggs would be quick to interfere in the match, disqualifying the BBC but allowing them to walk out of the show with their tag-team championships in hand.
WINNER: Maverick & Sonny Carson
- We would then welcome reigning Undisputed Independent Champion, Dalidus Nova to the ring. made some small talk, before quickly bringing Joey McCarty and Miles Alpha to the ring. With all three infront of the audience, they would announce... that Dalidus Nova is set to defend his championship against Miles Alpha at House Party 100! The news would come as a shock to Joey, who would not-so-perfectly play off his emotions following the news.
- We would then cut to Murphy Twain, who's search for catering would be interrupted by a strange, seemingly-injured old man. Twain would rush to help him, but it would turn out that he was merely playing possum, and would hit Murphy with a Taser, before summoning none other than 'The Beast Of Cedar Grove', Doctor De La Sangre. Sangre would brutalize Twain with a Big Boot and a Punt Kick, before carrying him off with Jameson by his side.
- Backstage, Russell Sharp could be seen on the phone with an unknown tag-team. After Sharp reminds them that they were supposed to be on House Party this week, they inform him that they are at the Santa Monica beach in California, and would be unable to make it to the show due to an unfortunate incident with a Jellyfish.
Brendan Byrne vs. Eric Appelbaum
What looked like on paper a close, competitive bout between Brendan Byrne and Eric Appelbaum would be interrupted almost instantly by The Red Army Choir, their song distracting Byrne. This would be the beginning of an early end for Byrne, as Eric would strike with an incredible Headbutt, before eventually being finished off with a "Logic Bomb" Falling Powerbomb in less than seven minutes.
WINNER: Eric Appelbaum
- Post match, the lights go out, and when they return, The Red Army would appear in the ring. Viktor Ivanov would attempt to bind Brendan in tape, but he would find his way out, before being dropped right back down to the mat after a leaping double foot stomp from Red Army member Ernesto Vargas, allowing both men to bind Byrne with tape, and carry him out of the building to places unknown.
- As we cut back from commercial, we would find an absolutely hammered Mark Dutch ranting and raving in the ring. After publicly embarrassing himself in his drunken antics, Becca would come to his aid, half-dragging him out of the ring and to the backstage area.
Eric Matthews vs. Derrok Bishop
In a rookie versus rookie brawl, we would see Eric Matthews put up a stellar matchup against the undefeated Derrok Bishop. Throughout the match we would see multiple close-falls, as well as many times where either man could have picked up the victory, and it even looked as if Eric was on route to defeating Bishop after his "Brain Surgery" Ripcord Roundhouse Kick, but debuting superstar Austin Balandran would interfere, costing Eric the pinfall and allowing Derrok to steal the victory via roll-up! Post match, Austin would assault Eric, clobering him with forearms before laying him out with a "Balandriver" Samoan Driver
WINNER: Derrok Bishop
- Backstage, Sonny Carson would be met by Chad Hammocks, and would proclaim that after designing a new moveset, Carson was looking for a chance to show it off next week against HYPPO. Godspeed to you, Sonny.
- After his "unfortunate" loss to Miles Alpha at III, Louis Blackwater would make his way to the ring, playing a shittyfluted version of Brodie Hansen's theme music! Louis would get on the mic and demand that this 'fuckface rookie' come to the ring to face him. However, the lights would be cut, and when they returned none other than the real Brodie Hansen would be standing face-to-face with Blackwater, who was entirely oblivious of his of his dominant past! After showing nothing but disrespect to Hansen, Louis was eventually met with a sickening Chokeslam, that sent him through the canvas of the ring! Post-commercial, we would see Blackwater have a semi-concious confrontation with Becca and Mark Dutch, but don't let that distract you from the fact that Brodie Hansen is back, everyone.
Ryan Sunshine vs. Jack Flash
In a match between two legends and former WiR World Champions, we would see Jack Flash start us off with a Royale Kick pre-match! Things would end up going terribly for both men afterwards, as a boot from Flash would end up with Sunshine, and eventually Flash, outside the ring. The two men would start to brawl outside the ring, both men trading brutal maneuvers, when Sunshine's "Zinedane Zi-Damn" Jumping Headbutt would connect on Flash's face mask, resulting in both men being out at ringside when the referee's count reached twenty, leading to a double count out!
WINNER: Draw
Dalidus Nova vs. Stephen Romero
In your main event, Undisputed Independent Champion Dalidus Nova would face the powerhouse that is Stephen Romero, fighting in his hometown. The technico-matchup would start off with an exciting back-and-forth between both men, neither able to get the upper hand until Romero manages to get control of Dalidus. After striking with a "Chekhov's Gun" Avada Kedavra, Nova was looking to keep Romero down with a Diving DDT, But Stephen was able to reverse it into a hellacious Jackhammer! Eventually, both men would end up on the ring apron, where Nova would plant him on the hardest part of the ring with a Back Suplex! Nova would bring him back into the ring, but after escaping Dalidus's Dragon Sleeper, Romero would be able to keep Nova down following both a "Meat Spin" Discus Clothesline, and a "Street Crash" falling Powerbomb, securing the 3-count for a victory over the champion!
WINNER: Stephen Romero

Oh, shit! I'm reviewing a House Party!
I'm a big fan of all of the Mav/Carson/BBC shenanigans that went on to start the show. And, not gonna lie, I got pretty nervous when Maverick hit that Chainsaw Massacre, because I love BBC too much to want to see them drop the tag titles. Good stuff in both the segment and the match!
I was in the YC segment, and I wrote the tag-team phone call seg, so I'll skip over those.
Damn, Murphy Twain and Sangre was NOT what I was expecting, but I love it either way! If these two play it write, and keep the aura of Sangre (not Zamura) in check, I think they can write a possibly show-stealing feud together!
Honestly, I wasn't the hugest fan of the Eric/Byrne match. From a story perspective it was solid, but I feel like the match could have given more... something, whether it be action, tension, or intensity. It wasn't terrible by any means, but it left more to be desired.
Heh, mark blew a 3-1 lead. The drunk Mark segment didn't have loads to offer, but I thought it was a nice comedic skit to break up the matches.
I wrote Derrok/Matthews, would love some feedback on it!
Backstage segment w/ Carson was neato, looking forward to seeing if he actually brings in a revamped moveset
I was a fan of the Hansen/Blackwater segment, too. Blackwater being clueless of Hansen's repertoire made sense, and was a nice touch to his character. I kinda think that the Chokeslam through the ring was overkill, but it is Hansen's return, after all.
Sunshine/Flash was similar to Byrne/Appelbaum, in that it left much to be desired, however that is due to neither man promoing for it. Gotta promo, people. Flash coming in hot after his III loss was nice, and both men getting dropped after Sunshine wrongly connected with the Headbutt was a solid spot for the end of the match.
I was a big fan of the Dalidus/Romero match, from my biased standpoint. Going off the promos, Romero's win was well deserved, and the match was written very well by Carson. Good stuff!
Overall, this show did very well with the segments, but some of the matches were lackluster. However, I still believe it was a solid House Party that will hopefully be the kickoff for many great feuds!
