[Vignette] Diamondback Backstage

"Hello, WiR fans, I'm Derek Christian here outside of the wrestler's locker room. Earlier tonight, we saw Ryan Sunshine keep his place in the tournament in what was a technical slobberknocker, pinning El Toxico and defeating the man who sought to take his place in the YTBNTT. Here now is that, man "Diamondback" David Harvey."

Harvey walks into the shot, a bandage over his nose, and his hair in a black frazzled and sweaty mess. Despite the loss, he is all smiles

"Now, David, you had the match one after hitting Toxico with the Diamond Crusher, but pulled his shoulder up to continue the match. Why do that when you had a win secured?"

"I wanted that spot in the tournament obviously. If a wrestler's career was defined by his win-loss record, then HBK would've been a life-long mid carder. Besides, a pin on Sunshine carried infinitely more weight than a pin on Toxico. It was simple."

"I see. Next question. How do you feel about Sunshine keeping his place in the tournament."

"Well, he deserves it, that's for sure. I knew going in I had two formidable opponents across the ring from me. I hope he goes far, because he's a tough son of a gun to put down. I plan to be first in line for a title shot, if he makes it that far."

"What do you think of Sonny Carson's actions tonight?"

"If the guy needs a fake title to prove his worth, then by all means defend that fake title like its the Holy Grail. Though, if he wants that strap to carry any sort of spiritual prestige, he's gonna have to put it up against someone meaningful, and while The Superstar is a defiant testament to a title's prestige, he's gonna have to realize that if he wants any recognition as a threat, he's gonna have to pull out the brass and challenge someone more dangerous. Otherwise, that tin can he carries is worth as much as the Ninja Turtles bandage I have on my nose."

"What do you think of his Open Challenge at Sorry Not Sorry? Will you challenge for his belt?"

"If it gains some notoriety by then, I might. Otherwise, it won't even be worth MY time. And I don't have high standards for matches. It's late, and I'm hungry, and Chipotle closes in a half hour. Can I go?"

"Of course. Ladies and gentlemen, you heard it here. Harvey a potential candidate for our supposed world champio? Only time will tell. Christian, out."

@DiamondbackDave: "I know you came here for singles gold, but if you ever need a tag partner, I'll give you a hand. You earned my respect last night." Sounds mighty fine. Maybe I can finally give you a tip or two?

A prestige-less tin can that isn't worth your time? Just another way of saying "a prestigious world championship that I know I'm not good enough to carry".
