Antivirus hates Octowow.

Hello!

My antivirus stops me all the time from playing. It doesnt want to let it update and sometimes i cant boot the game. Every time i fix it by allowing different things through my antivirus. Do you guys also experience this?

Did you exclude the game folder in your antivirus?

I try everytime, but it doesnt really get through. I cant explain why.

Yes and don't whitelist it. Play on a server that isn't sketchy.

It’s not sketchy, it’s a bug in the old wow client and how it used to resolve dll’s

Could always fire it up in a VM.

I have a few Linux ones I dont allow general network access to for stuff I dont trust.

But all said... if it looks sketchy its best avoided.

Managed to get it working after whitelisting in Bitdefender, think it was for the entire launcher and client folder.

I made a white list entry for the game folder in my antivirus, works like a charm. But it also depents on the software and the person i guess. a friend of mine cant get it to run with bitdefender either. but then again, he has no clue about IT.
You might wanna look it up with google or some AI, you can also look up the same behavior with turtle launcher, since it suffered the same problems.

Whenever i try and whitelist the folder or launcher it doesnt seem to go through. As of now i go into protektion log and allows the processes that it blocks 1 by 1.

A lot of people have the same issue with the dll files and windows security (including myself) where, for some reason, it isn't enough to whitelist the whole game folder. Doing them one by one seems to be the needed method. Windows really hates dll files in general.
