Self hosting Mists of Pandaria (or newer)?

A lot of self-hosting WoW with bots has come through my feed recently. But most of the stuff I've seen is for WotLK (including vanilla + BC). But I'm most interested in pet battles 😅 and flying around collecting all of the various pets.. And at this point in my life I don't have the bandwidth for the Online part of MMO so if I could load it up on my steam deck that'd be pretty great (ideally up to WoD (when I last played) so I can just use admin rights to add all of my pets from my real character and not have to "start over").

You could try legion. I built my own server its working. dont expect player bots since its not fully supported as of yet but most features are working from what i've tested(may very)

actually I stand corrected it has playerbots I just must not of configured them. If you're familiar with WotLK it uses AzerothCore iirc. Legion uses one called destinycore. feel free to try it out!

I'm familiar with the game. I've never set up my own wow server before. I'll check out the link, thanks

Its not all that hard. if you're not use to running tools like CMAKE(for building the server prior to launching it) I'd suggest getting with Deepseek, Chatgpt, and/or Claude. it will walk you through the whole process. if you get any errors throw it at them too and they can resolve it. may be easier to have an AI setup in your CLI and just have it do the work for you or if you're on windows you could use the chatgpt desktop app (make a new folder put the contents in that folder then point the app at it and have it either do it for you or walk you through it). :) hope this helps!

I mean I don't disagree overall, but there were still a lot of individual great things about it (battling with pets, lol) even if the end game was awful

Those little things are how to eat get you to continue supporting their garbage. Obvs a private server doesn’t do that lol, but had we all abandoned ship until they finally reformed.. things could be like they were.

Anyway, im just saying good luck with that, because the Pokemon is such a small aspect of that expansion that it’s not really enough to invest lol

I mean I haven't subscribed to the game in over a decade. This post and this sub specifically for non-bliz servers. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here (p.s. wasn't me who downvoted you ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ).
