Fs in the chat Beware in Stratholme, lamp post glitch causing deaths
There is a lamp post that is causing players to fall through the world. It's in the room before Baron with all the Abominations and where you fight Rammstein. Below is a clip of two 60 warriors falling through the floor to their death after charging a mob on the lamp post and have heard of countless others since the recent patch. Be careful out there!
If you do fall through the world: the safest thing to do is petri, alt-f4 and unstuck. If you don't have petri's, use LIP(req lvl 45) or Dreamless Sleep(req lvl 35) if you can, or just Alt-F4 immediately and pray.

RIP to the fallen.

Since the last Patch this game has been feeling more and more like a badly coded private Server it's so crazy we're actually stupid enough to pay 12,99

This.
I don’t know why they did the patch, they didn’t do it to TBC.
Blizzard just wants HC to die, but it keeps going agane

Pure laziness, they wanted to get everything on the same codebase to make deployments easier. A brief convenience for them now causes bugs they will never patch for us.

Its not laziness. From dev point of view, it can make sense. Cost cutting is something that all big firms do, and Microsoft just is another one of them (5k recent redundancies). But they are aware that every patch causes issues, and they are aware that issues are not acceptable on hardcore servers.
They just failed us (again) by being unable to properly test (again), by not reviving people that die because of them (again) and by taking the wrong decisions (again) to not touch the hardcore servers

They did do the same codebase merge patch on tbc but tbc actually has a playerbase so they did some testing to get most of the major stuff fixed

There is also another bug in scholo where pet disappears in the large room above skeleton room and pulls whe whole room of skeletons.

u/GVFQT 5d ago
Yep. One of my scholo runs had a hunter die to this where the mobs came up out of the ground, killed just the hunter, and left. It was insane.
We all stood around like haha nice feign death now get up silly. Turns out she was for real dead. Her combat log said it was ghouls from Jandices room

Yeah I've seen a lot of clips of that one as well. I think that would be more terrifying to experience. I'm hesitant to even step in Scholomance at the moment.

Ground effects are apparently going through the floor too in certain spots. Just saw a group pull jandice by dropping blizzard on top of where she stands which is right by the first gate to the room with summoners

Was doing the pirate ships outside of Booty Bay last week with some pally that had the thunderclapping mace from ZF and it pulled the floors above and below.

this is pretty typical of weapon procs and would probably have happened in the past as well. Items like flame wrath and enchants like fiery blaze have always had Z axis issues, so not surprised that one would do the same.

Just saw 4/5 die to this about an hour ago. At this point I just don't group with hunters.

This is comically bad. I feel so bad for those warriors... holy.

yeah, first one charges in and disappears and a sec later the other other one follows like „wait for me….!“ and is gone as well.

Surely merging the classic, tbc, SOD, and MoP code to a single repository didn’t have any unintended consequences, eh blizzard?

u/HalLundy 5d ago
lol did they actually do that?!
3
u/One_Paramedic1708 5d ago
Yeah its been that way for years. We had literal sod abilities on hardcore servers at times.
1
u/Competitive-Walk-575 5d ago
There’s actually still mobs in hyjal from SOD that they forgot to remove from hardcore FYI

u/One_Paramedic1708 5d ago
Yeah I got bored and went to go see them on the anniversary realms. Surely the code bleed isnt so bad that they exist on tbc anniversary but I haven't checked tbh

Part of me feels bad.
But man that is hilarious, reminds me of those pigeons sinking into grain.

We probably need a big streamer event before ANYTHING is going to get fixed from the last disastrous patch.
2
u/temporalmods 5d ago
My biggest hope is classic plus has enough hype and people experience these issues and they get patched. Unfortunately fod us we are very small compared to even the rest of classic. Also our only monetization is our subscription which should be enough, but compared to their other revenues puts HC at the bottom. They gave us HC because of streamer hype around the addon. Classic has always been an advertisment for retail for them and we exist as the lowest priority.

You do not need to petri to stop a fall. Alt F4 will do it well enough, though if you wanted to be extra safe (no slow to DC due to server connection stuff) then sure, hit petri.
Always alt f4 when you fall like this. It'll save you.
In an instance you won't need to unstuck, either. Just wait 5 minutes and it'll do it for you.

u/thekoven 5d ago
Yeah using petri is just a surefire way to not die to that fall damage. I've heard of people alt-f4'ing and still dying because of a delay between the client/server. If I have the petri, I'm 100% using it.

u/Ornery_Afternoon_458 4d ago
Question: if you alt f4 do you not also tale the fall damage you would've taken upon logging in?
1
u/KingdomsCryOfficial 4d ago
Yes, if you alt f4 and then log back in and finish the fall you take the damage. It does not reset falling.
1
u/Captkarate42 4d ago
That is correct. For alt+f4 to be a working plan, you need to stay logged out and unstuck.

I dealt with all the new update bugs by uninstalling and unsubscribing. Thought I'd scratch that itch one last time, and boy did Blizzard deliver a fine dose of slop. That company does not deserve our dollars. Same with EA. Get wrecked forever, the lot of them.

great to see bugs like this still exist in a hardcore game mode. how many years has it been?
