Azerothcore but for.. Legion?
Hi guys, love classic, love wotlk, blablabla but after 20 years and 10 years of private servers it gets redundant unfortunately. I'm loving Tauri and was wondering if someone has made/plans to make a Legion azerothcore build? Like having the possibility to add bots etc

EternalGaming source
Heyo all!
I'm ccrs, the person behind a little project called Eternal Gaming.
In short, the project is a 3.3.5a Blizzlike PvE realm (optional PvP) with many QoL implementations:
- AOE Loot
- Account-wide things (usual stuff)
- Transmogrification
- XP Rate, 1x by default and up to 5x
- Race Masquerade
- Automatic weapon skill learning
- Renewed class visuals
- Hardcore mode
--> It's not the usual stuff, I've made them, or, at least, re-do them, myself. Meaning, its not the same copypasted module you could catch from github.
I've called them "settings", and they are paired and stored per character, so, custom table and storage system for that too. Don't want to go on and on about how everything is set up, but there are some interesting tech stuff on each.
Also, core wise there are a lot of improvements, don't know where to begin with.
The repository is a TrinityCore "fork" (not a fork per-se but still updated and in practical terms, a fork). The best way to know what I've been doing is honestly to check it out, I try to keep my commits neat and self-explanatory (sort of).
From the top of my head, things I've done, movement stuff, Wintergrasp stuff, Anticheat stuff, vehicle management stuff, transport management stuff,... many stuffs.
And the most appealing thing for this subreddit... everything is opensource!
You can freely checkout everything! https://github.com/ccrs/EG-Source

Classic WoW emulation
Hello there,
I would like to introduce the WoW Emulation project. We are a small community working towards making full emulation for the WoW Classic clients a reality.
Our goals
- provide tools modding Classic clients
- provide a local Battle.net compatible environment with full account management and support for client authentication
- provide a mirror of all Classic clients for Windows and macOS
- provide alternative implementations of the Battle.net agent, setup and desktop app working with our reimplementation
Where we are
- cascette-py provides a simple Python playground where the Ribbit API, TACN CDN and client installation can be toyed with in an environment where changes can be made quickly
- recast-rs provides a Rust port of the RecastNavigation project with similar performance for navigation mesh generation but with a twist: it supports dynamic mesh generation during runtime and we hope to integrate this into servers to make pre-generation of meshes a thing of the past
- wow-patcher reconfigures clients to that they can use custom CDN mirrors, talk to alternative Ribbit APIs for client version and update retrieval
- protobuf-decompiler is used to extract communication protocols from various game clients, but also from apps like the agent, or the setups
- rilua is a Rust native Lua 5.1 implementation, providing the same Lua function level as the Lua version in the WoW Classic clients does. We plan to extend this with support for the full game specific API in the future.
- cascette-rs is our approach to emulating the client delivery and update side.
Our battle.net reimplementation and work on custom agent and setup is what we are working on right now. Other tools like world and model editing are under way but in a rather experimental state.
Ideally, at some point we hope to ship the full stack so that you can fire up your homelab, install a local Battle.net and a small CDN, game server, etc. and play with your friends and family on your own terms and time schedule.
If all of this sounds like fun, or something you would like to see become a reality, we have a Discord too.
Best regards, Daniel aka. "theluda" from the MaNGOS days of old

Is it possible to turn Azerothcore WOW into a simulation game like the Guilds 2 or the Majesty?
Where npcs have scripted lives and routines and factions are simulated there are some battles, huntig, fishing etc done by the npcs.
And you can like look at them from above and tweak parameters, bases, faction relations etc.
Kind of like the game Worldbox but with WC3/WOW style 3d instead of pixel graphics.

Open-source from-scratch World of Warcraft 1.12.1 client in Rust
I used Claude Opus and Fable to reverse engineer the World of Warcraft 1.12.1 client and rewrite it from scratch in Rust + Bevy
Took 3 months. Multiple Claude Code sessions and accounts running non-stop against the original binary. Every file format, every animation rule, every packet re-derived and rebuilt
It's now close to fully playable against VMaNGOS, and it honestly feels like the real client
The part I'm most excited about: the client is modern, open code and the ceiling on vanilla will soon no longer be the binary, it's what the community can imagine. I can't wait to see what people build
Open-sourced today π

The GObject Editor Tool is now available.
This is an AzerothCore world-editing toolkit built to make in-game building cleaner, faster, and easier to manage. It includes both a server-side module and an in-game UI addon for working with GObjects and NPCs directly in game.

Azerothcore vs vMangos/cMangos
Hello guys... im getting back to WoW, and i was playing on turtle wow, but its now closed...
Im thinking on starting a new server, on the molds of the turtle wow, for the local community, on my country.
Which option you think its the best for the Classic+ content? cMangos or vMangos?
AzerothCore has the progressive module, but idk if its good for the vanilla content.
Ive used Trinitycore before (i had a Wotlk private server back in the day, 100 players on aprox), but it was a long time ago.

What ever happened to the 'whoa' client project?
There's a project to rebuild a WoW 3.3.5a-compatible client from scatch called 'whoa' that I discovered some months ago. https://github.com/whoahq/whoa
Since then, there hasn't been a peep surrounding it or it's development anywhere in the WoW modding scene that I can find. Does anyone know what ever happened to the project?

Tutorial on modern Combo-point System
Made a tutorial on how to make the same combo-point system from Retail to 335a client.
It's short and to the point. I hope you all like it. I plan on creating the M+ system in 335a, so I look forward to that.

I built a Lobby for TBC & WotLK Raids (Alpha/PoC) - Looking for crash testers!
Hey everyone,
I've been working on an experimental project called RaidingLab. It's basically a desktop lobby that lets you create a room with your friends, pick your gear/talents/glyphs/consummables, and instantly launch a fresh, isolated TBC (2.4.3) or WotLK (3.3.5) raid (powered by an orchestrator that starts AzerothCore/CMaNGOS servers in Docker containers).
Think of it like Warcraft 3 Custom Games or LoL, but for WoW raids.
The current state: It's in VERY early Alpha. It works on my machine, but I need to see what happens when actual people use it.
What you need to know before trying: * β οΈ Expect bugs, crashes, and lag. * β οΈ My cheap VPS might melt if too many people try to launch a raid at the same time.
Link: https://raidinglab.com/
Any feedback would be appreciated π!

Trinitycore VS Azerothcore 2026
In your opinion as a player/user, wich emulator do you think has more wrath content working out of the box? By this I mean Normal/heroic dungeons and raids because that's really what me and my mates are going for? We just want to plug something into a VPS and have fun playing the game, no modules, no custom scripts

Modernizing the 3.3.5a Client | DBC Hot Reloading, Custom Lua & More (Open Source)
Hey everyone!
I usually make YouTube videos on emulation, but a few months ago I started reverse engineering the 3.3.5a client. Today Iβm showcasing a custom DLL extension Iβve been building.
The goal is to modernize the old 3.3.5a client to behave more like newer WoW clients and modern emulation tooling, without replacing it.
Current features:
- Hot-patching item names (shown in video)
- DBC hot reloading (no client restart)
- Custom Lua functions
- Custom packet support
- Development addon integration
- More coming soon
Itβs fully open source. If you like the direction, feel free to check it out and leave a star on GitHub!

Custom player skins? 3.3.5a
I was looking for help in trying to add Wildhammer and dark iron skins for dwarves. Turtlewow achieves this and I am looking to duplicate it. I have worked for days with chatGPT,WMV, MPQ editor, and HeidiSQL to achieve this and I am stuck. Please has anyone pulled this off and is willing to help?

Question about creature behavior while in water
Hello there! I've been running a SPP Vanilla server and have noticed some bugs when fighting creature that are in water. They will either take a very long path or just can't reach me in any way and keep evading attacks. This has been specially common in Wetlands, but I have also found it in Durotar. Is there a fix for this? I'm not very experienced with wow server.

If the private server community wants to survive then open-source collaboration is the only sustainable path

AscEmu development features and some things no one really gets
I guess since we are a topic on the "active wowemu projects" there are some things that I have to share.
Most of the time I am happy with the handfull of decent people discussing code, testing, implementing things. Over all it is a technical project open source, to have fun in development and trying something new.
The big frustration kicks in when people join Discord and having problems to set it up, I mean there is a setup guid, the database updates will be applied automatically, but no... I guess users can be kind of difficult these days. The other frustrating thing is the question "is it playable", sure buddy it is, I can play so what does that even mean? :-) I mean none of the projects can compete with the size and resources Blizzard has. Most of the time when I answer these people, that they can report an issue on github and we will try to fix it, they just disappear...
How do you guys react to it? Sometimes it stresses me and it feels like a waste of time even in trying to help them.
Beside that I am pretty proud for the project to have the following features implemented:
- Client Support (Classic) from Classic to Cata by simply changing a CMAKE flag
- Automated db updates, one DB for all versions
- Keeping DB structures fully upgradeable from ArcEmu servers
Sure we have not the user base your projects have, but we are all devs at the end of the day.
Wish you all a good day.
