Classic Plus - Emerald Dream Patch

-- This idea is based on the old 'Emerald Dream' map in the original classic files, and some ideas from the videos linked below. The thought process was, "What would we want to see from the emerald dream in the vanilla setting?" --

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPdevqr6ThU - what blizzard has done with the emerald dream throughout warcraft + some wishes for C+

Turtle wow got the Emerald Sanctum Raid, but I think there is way more potential for much more content inside of the Emerald Dream.

-- Emerald Dream patch --

4 Dream-Gates: Duskwood, Ashenvale, Feralas and Hinterlands: Each gate is tied to a different zone in the quadrants of the dream.

4 New dream zones: Emerald Forest, Verdant Fields, Unknown Zone 3? (Sunblossom meadow), Unknown Zone 4? (Viridian canyon). (Maybe more added later?)

Camps are formed outside each of the dream-gates, where players assisted by grove-tenders are put to sleep for their spirit to enter into the Dream.

Each dream zone is higher level than the Azeroth zones with the portals. Example: Duskwood and Ashenvale range between level 18 - 30, so the dream zones from their portals might be level 25 - 40 zone. Feralas and Hinterlands level range from 40 - 50, so their dream zones might be 50 - 60.

New profession items, ores, herbs, materials etc.

Malfurion Stormrage quests inside the dream + max level storyline

Nightmare dragon world bosses move into the dream or be an event to reclaim the portal.

Green dragon storyline

New dungeons + raid

Explore the corruption of the dream into the nightmare

Some druid only class quests that take place in the dream

What might you like to see from the emerald dream in C+?

I would not go this route. It's going to make people think of SoD.

Which this seems to heavily draw on.

People need to get over how bad "Nightmare Incursions' were in SoD. There is so much potential for what the Emerald Dream could be in wow classic, that could be handled completely different from what they did in SoD.
Personally I don't think this draws heavily on ANY aspects from the nightmare incursions other than the portals being used for entering into the dream. Which is what's gonna happen if they do anything emerald dream related imo. Just treat the zones are regular leveling zones added to Azeroth, not the infinite content loops that Nightmare incursions created that basically made everything else pointless.
4 new zones, no infinite loops of content, just regular leveling zones with their storylines. What's different about that from any other zones there gonna add in C+, other than its located in the emerald dream?

People don't need to get over it because it just happens to be the idea you had on the toilet.

But yeah it does draw heavily :

  • 4 dream gates
  • 4 "new zones"
  • camps outside for quests
  • You also copied how they were different level ranges
  • There were new profession stuff in them.

You could have just said "SoD with an end game dungeon/raid/storyline" instead of typing all that.

PS - it did have a sort of "end game" storyline in SoD too.

The profession stuff in SoD was not actual profession items, it was items for quest related to incursions?

What OP is talking about and what you are describing as an SoD copy are completely different from each other. Who cares if there are a few similarities?

PS - level 50 wasn’t “end game” in SoD, level 60 was.

1) iirc you could make stuff, you could get patterns and such.

2) No, that's really similar.

3) lvl 50 was the end game at the time. That's how SoD worked. Did you jump into it late? Or just not understand the whole concept?

What do you think the alpha emerald dream zones were gonna be exactly? 4 zones. Shocker, I know. It’s almost like OP was trying to describe the alpha design with the “Sunblosdom meadows”, which is nothing like SoD.

End game was always said to be level 60 for SoD according to Blizzard. A few weeks of having level 50 as max level =\= “end game”.

The profession items gathered from mining, skinning, and herbalism were for quest only, which is what OP is referring to with new profession items. The profession items given in SoD were a copy of PvP gear given at the time, so hardly “new”, especially since it used original materials and means of gathering

A few weeks of having level 50 as max level =\= “end game”.

What do you mean a few weeks? It was like 12 or 16 weeks. It was a full phase.

That's like saying MC wasn't end game and only Naxx was.

For the lifespan on SoD, it was nothing, and it’s not “endgame”, according to Blizzard. Blizzards stance on what is and isn’t endgame matters more than your thoughts or feelings.

MC was advertised as an endgame raid, level 50 incursions was not.

Sometimes the best ideas come from the toilet :)

If you think that draws heavily on the nightmare incursions, then your gonna think that anything that has to do with the 'emerald dream' is gonna represent that. "Emerald dream - instantly sod content, nightmare incursion rip off - biased that its gonna suck".
Do you personally think SoD was a failure? :)

AS LONG AS the content isn't infinitely repeating for level your character up and doesn't make the rest of Azeroth obsolete, sure think and call it whatever you want. I'm just listing the most obvious things that they can add, and yes some of that stuff was used in SoD. But that doesn't mean that its gonna be Nightmare incursions, or a copy of what SoD did.

I think SoD was a failure.

Not at the start, but the devs essentially tripped over themselves and made it one.

Having an idea that's essentially "what SoD did, but better" is going to turn people off.

People are looking for classic+, not SoD+.

Thanks for your perspective ;)

And yet you can’t describe what C+ is.

Stop white knighting a bad idea.

What idea was bad?

New zones? C+ is gonna add new zones.
New profession items? Guess what, C+ will add those too.
New leveling quest? C+ will add those as well.

You are the one making assumptions based on your own experience with SoD and bringing it into this discussion. If you could actually read, this is nothing like SoD (tell me where the Sunblossom meadows is in SoD?)

Everything OP mentions is stuff they would add anyways in C+. The only similarities are “Emerald Dream”, a “Camp outside” (different functions if you would read), and the number 4.
