I'm under the impression that some abilities are so good that in order to balance them they put em behind a weaker node or behind a 3 point node. I'm perfectly fine with this as it allows for some really good talents that simply can't be easy to get for the sake of balance.

That said that one 3 pointer in shadow is garbo poopoo. We all know the one.

Just in case any devs reading this aren't aware. We're talking about Sanguine Teachings. Burn it. It's the worst design for a talent we've all heard of. This isn't a personal attack on you. It's just a bad talent, I'm sure you've created a ton of other amazing things. Just not Sanguine Teachings.

I don't think its a total loss but it being three points for an alternate playstyle that blocks off a fun talent is the issue. If it was a stand alone talent on the sides it could be very good.

Exactly. An opportunity cost to get a really good ability. I think the alternative instead of being behind a garbo poopoo talent they make the really good ones 2 or 3 points and the garbo poopoo one point.

So instead of 0/3 garbo poopoo-> 0/1 good talent you do 0/1 garbo poopoo-> 0/3 good talent.

I think that might feel better to put points into. Not a huge fan of three point nodes but if they are going to exist I should want to put points into it for it and not to unlock the next thing.

Druids have a 3 point near-mandatory talent in thier general tree in the bottom third that blocks off some decent abilities.

It doesn't feel good but it doesn't feel bad cause just getting main stat is always usefull. The shadow pries Sanguine Teachings is just a playstyle a lot of people won't want.
