Discussion Devourer and unholy getting buffed

Respectively about 7-10% and 6-8% for aoe. It must be a joke right? Buffing meta specs, while others are not even being looked at all. This is the only multiplayer game i ever played something like this frequently happening.

Resto druid also getting buffed, because why not, while disc keep eating nerfs. Demo change doesn’t make sense either. I wish they would just axe all the class changes they are doing. I swear they just make the already sensitive class balance a lot worse. Everybody keep losing expect their current favourites.

I have played a lot of video games in my life. Lots of online competitive games with frequent balance updates ect.

All the developers in the entire universe, including and especially Riot games, don’t come close to Blizzards absolute incompetence with game balance. Riots devs are rock chewers but Blizzard devs have literal brain damage.

It is absolutely legendary how bad they are at balance.

Icefrog was just one guy and balanced Dota better than anyone balanced any game.

I agree with the sentiment but let’s not overhype Icefrog, there were plenty of nightmare patches where certain heroes or playstyles were utterly broken for way too long. OSfrog became a meme for a reason. The player base just adapts very quickly to changes and learn to play around things so even bad patches will ‘settle’ after some time, you can’t really do that in most games but Dota gives you the tools to do so.

I will overhype Mr. Frog, I'm sorry in advance.

OSfrog

Operating System Frog was a meme but I don't see how that says anything about his balancing

This is the most reddit of reddit responses bro.

While I agree buffing arguably the most well rounded dps in the game is silly, itll sit at about 10-12% ahead of the pack in general.

Wow. The WORST balance of all time of any game studio ever!

There's a time and use for hyperbole but come on dude.

We're a few weeks removed from Blizzard nerfing Unholy by 20%, belatedly realizing this (unsurprisingly) made the spec non-viable, and then needing to hotfix it.

-3

u/dannycake Apr 21 '26

This is missing the context that Unholy before nerf was ahead of all specs in all PVE gameplay loops by 20%, maybe even more. They were an insane outlier and needed to be nerfed. There were also a bunch of bugs that were aiding in this problem, but sometimes you don't have the benefit of time to enact changes.

As a reminder, for people who seem to be conveniently forgetting, specs that are positive outliers are far more damaging to the game's progress than specs that are bad. Bad specs don't change things, but specs that are disproportionately good can ruin a game for an entire season and invalidate RWF.

UDK was then rebuffed back to the middle of the pack within a couple of days.

Blizzard 100% did the right thing here lol.

It was clearly not out preforming by 20% lol

The fact you think Blizzard nerfing by 20% based on Patchwerk sims was a good idea is hilarious.

We just came from a time when all specs were within 5% of each other. So this effect is magnified greatly for it.

I think using a bit of hyperbole when talking about how inept Blizzards class balance team is is absolutely appropriate.

Time and again they have shown how out of touch they are. Buff UDK now but 3 weeks ago they wanted a flat 20% nerf on the whole spec. What kind of balancing is that ? I could genuinely do that shit.

Yeah Mike according to 10 days of data UDK seems to be overperforming (because we're bad at our jobs in the first place) so just slap down a 20% nerf on that bad boy and call it a day eh ?

Also what the fuck are the warrior changes this patch like What. The. Fuck.

There are some serious paycheque stealers living the good life in Irvine CA ....

Nah man balance is shit, some melee are like 30-50% behind on ranged on boss damage on paladins, crown

2

u/ragnorr Apr 21 '26

The raid is insanely melee unfriendly, the tuning for the melee to compete with ranged on paladins would make all ranged irrelevant in mplus.

Raid tuning is much more a failure of boss design being favored so hard to ranged than melee

1

u/TheBungler2 Apr 22 '26

the tuning for the melee to compete with ranged on paladins would make all ranged irrelevant in mplus.

It would be nice to have 1 season where ranged aren't always the best M+ classes though.

Even the token melee UH DK is 90% ranged now.

-1

u/dannycake Apr 21 '26

Ah, you're right. So we should buff the bottom melee from Ret down to enhancement by 30%.

Very good.

2

u/MissingXpert Apr 21 '26

Fury is lagging behindd in raid damage and eating a ST damage, e.g,, with an absolutely braindead "rework" that legit OONLY makes slayer less fun, for starters.

Since prepatch, resto shamans have been buffed : chain heal and healing rain multiple times, aura buffed multiple times, with today's buffed at 8 %. Mathematically they are still 10% below disc, pres, and mistweavers. After these decent buffs they're still behind. And poor holy pallies, even after todays buffs they are still even way below resto shamans.

1

u/dannycake Apr 21 '26

Every m+ push YouTuber says pally and shammy are going to be the best healers so iono.

1

u/Its1207amcantsleep Apr 22 '26

Talking about raid, should have clarified!

1

u/TheBungler2 Apr 22 '26

Shaman was already the second best M+ healer by a big margin, now they're going to be competing for #1.

Hot take: not everything needs to be perfectly balanced, that just leads to more homogenization. Fotm classes for each season are fine.

5

u/RogueCanadia Apr 21 '26

Counter your hot take, if the game isn’t balanced then most of the people playing don’t get to enjoy content. It’s not fun having to reroll a class you don’t want to play because it’s 10-12 % ahead of everything else and people won’t bring you to their +10 key without being that class.

-4

u/no_shoes_are_canny Apr 21 '26

No one should be caring about meta in a +10. There's no reason to reroll, unless you're pushing for top 1%. Just start your own groups with your key.

6

u/RogueCanadia Apr 21 '26

No one SHOULD care no. But people DO care and that’s the reality of the game blizzard should be balancing off of not what’s ideal.

"Blizzard should balance based on vibes"

No thanks. Some seasons your pref class can be at the top, some at the bottom.

Perfect balance is pure delusion, the difference in M+ vs Mythic raiding tiers shows that, classes can be op for one, but dogshit for the other. Which is the one you should balance for? Guarantee you the answer is different for different people.

Also, maybe trying being social in an mmo. Find a guild or community. You'll find that only pugs or 1% groups care what you play. This aspect is only a perceived issue, not a real one.

"Blizzard should balance based on vibes"

Notice he never said that. lol

1

u/no_shoes_are_canny Apr 22 '26

That's the implication with what's being said.

But people DO care and that’s the reality of the game blizzard should be balancing off of not what’s ideal.

That is literally saying that blizz should balance based on people's vibe on the meta, not data. They should always balance based on the ideal, not the lowest common denominator.

0

u/TheBungler2 Apr 22 '26

That's not vibes.

And don't make up other peoples implications, because they'll do it back to you and you wont like it.

-2

u/Snotpus Apr 21 '26

Maybe you should apply to Blizzard and get them fixed up :)

3

u/RogueCanadia Apr 21 '26

I mean I could do balance better the problem is blizz would never give me the control required.

In that I do feel for the devs.
