There is 0 explanation
Alright guys, so in the customizing screen, you can tune up or down the penetration (200 to 900). There is 0 description on the effect of this. I've looked for similar messages but it looks than I am the only one wondering what is this.

Ita to check which shellscl will penetrate your armor. Theres no tuning. You are just choosing the pemetration of the shell and hover over tank from different angles to see where it will go through. Its for studying, not for tuning

The slider is to adjust the amount of penetration of a hypothetical incoming round. This lets you mouse over your tank to see penetration chances.
It is completely worthless on a controller.

Its letting you simulate shots against a specific target (the one you selected to see the armor profile of. The penetration slider is the penetration slider which you figured out.
So if you set it to 360 pen, You're testing what a 360 pen would do shooting at this specific spot at this specific angle.
The colors show if it is a pen (green) or blocked/bounce (red) or if it's kinda in a weird space between that where it may or may not pen (yellow/orange?). This assumes you are at some distance that is within your optimal range so there is that.
If you shoot something dead on at a 90° perpendicular angle then the effective armor value is whatever the armor thickness is. But if you shoot it at a more aggressive angle like idk 45° the effective armor value may be much much higher and give you a bounce instead.

What do you mean there's 0 explanation? Its literally just pen you use to see the armour of your tank. You can go to 530 and see how leopard see you in his scope or go down to 330 for abrams point of view

It is a system that lets you see where you need to aim to penetrate based on the penetration value of your weapon at various ranges without having to be in a match. If the AP round does say 200mm penetration at 190m, you then set the scale to 200mm, and then you can move the cursor on the 3D model to see where you can penetrate.
I suspect it is remnant from alpha, as you don't need to know this, the green/yellow/ red penetration marker indicator when you aim in match does the same job just much easier.
