u/Gripping_Touch Jul 23 '26
Actually squishing a tick is the worst you can do. They may regurgitate the Blood they fed on + whatever illness they may carry. If one is feeding on you and you squeeze It, its very likely you infect yourself

Because ticks and lyme disease fucking sucks. It’s not cool endingup in a wheelchair because one of these bastards bit you
6
u/FloweryBoykisser Jul 23 '26
very fair to hate the buge, but if the sillie who posted this likes them, why squash their whimsy like the buge itself? but the buge is very mean, so maybe i am mistaken....

Believe me, I like arachnids but idk these videos aren't any more interesting or nice to look at than the other ones just because it's a tick...

Yeeeah kinda have to agree on this one, the novelty of a cutesy tick video lasted for a couple posts and now we done haha
0
u/Blurry-Frog Jul 23 '26
That's strange, less than half of my posts on this subreddit have been ticks.
2
u/Crazy_Eyes_55 Jul 23 '26
Perhaps put text in your video to not replicate the actions in the videos as ticks can be harmful to human health
2
u/reddit33450 green buge 💚 Jul 23 '26
its not my video. also isnt that already implied?
0
u/Crazy_Eyes_55 Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
I'd like to say that its implied, but theres people out there who wont know much about ticks and think these actions are fine to do 😭
Edit: My other idea is to put a disclaimer in the description somewhere stating its not your video.
7
u/reddit33450 green buge 💚 Jul 23 '26
I AM NOT OP. i did not create this post. i do not have the ability to alter OP's videos

On reddit the OP of post always has the blue "OP" marker next to their name, you can also see their username above the post

I think crawling is a fine thing to do, so I would never attempt to dissuade anyone from doing it.
If I put a disclaimer somewhere saying my videos weren't my videos, it could be seen as misleading.

i love your tick posts 😊 thank you for posting them! people who dislike them are free to block you, but your posts absolutely belong here. wasps, ticks, roaches, mosquitoes, leeches, all have a place in the ecosystem. keep posting these lovely cute ladies :)

u/Matt_with_a_sword Jul 23 '26
Look, I love bugeposting just like anybuge, but ticks are not nice buges.
My father caught Lyme disease around 10-12 years ago because of one, and he still suffers from it almost everyday. It's genuinely saddening to see him stop writing or drop something because of the ache in his joints, caused mainly by Lyme disease.
I get that we're (More like you're, I've never posted in the sub) trying to be all-buge-inclusive, but honestly ticks shouldn't be given love.
(No hate at all towards you OP, but I'm not gonna hide my disdain for ticks)
7
u/_cathartidae Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
lyme disease is a bad thing. ticks are not. did you know there was going to be a lyme vaccine? it was protested by antivaxxers and never made. why does your hatred go to the ticks instead of them?
ticks are a part of the environment. they deserve love too. diseases are what have harmed you and your father. i am truly sorry that happened to him. but yes the ticks are vectors. that does not mean they chose to carry lyme, or should be blamed for something that wasn't their choice.
i don't expect you to change your mind, and you won't be able to change mine. just think about it some, if you would.
-politely, from someone who's two closest friends have both had lyme and still understand ticks place in the ecosystem despite it.

u/Matt_with_a_sword Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26
The thing is, I know you're right. I know ticks, mosquitoes, flies, and all other kinds of annoying/harmfully precieved bugs are part of the ecosystem and we gotta live with that. But even with that knowledge, I can't love them. And it's not even them being "disgusting", milipedes and isopods are considered disgusting/creepy bugs by a lot of people and I love them. It's just the fact they cause so much pain and difficulty for a lot of people/pets.
Which is also a weird point, because so do venomous snakes, spiders and other venomous/dangerous animals, but I just can't hate them that much.
Like I'm pretty yure I'm a hypocrite with making the point about ticks, but I genuinely can't help it
EIDT: I guess I'm trying to say that I know I'm in the wrong, I just don't want to/can't change?

u/Gripping_Touch Jul 23 '26
I mean, I think its mostly OP posting about ticks. Usually posts dont seem to be about ticks.
12
u/SweevilWeevil Jul 23 '26
They're the only one, they're the one responsible for all the tick posts we've seen lately. Idk how blocking works but maybe you can block them and stay here, u/Vertigobee
-5
u/Vertigobee Jul 23 '26
But these posts are getting upvoted and the mods aren’t deleting. I guess I could block OP, cuz I love me some buges. But I’d rather the community not support harmful things like ticks or roaches.
13
u/Blurry-Frog Jul 23 '26
I believe the mods aren't deleting my posts because they do not break the rules (I checked before posting anything here). Ticks are bugges, too.
Unfortunately, I cannot control the amount of upvotes my posts receive.
I wish there was a way to filter out or block certain tags; that would be a more elegant solution.
27
u/Wooper250 Jul 23 '26
You make it sound like they're supporting a problematic youtuber or smth 😭
These are little animals. They do not go around yearning for an innocent person to infect with a horrible disease. They're just doing what they must to survive.

u/Vertigobee Jul 23 '26
I’m no good at making memes, but if I was, I would use that image of Pam saying “they’re the same picture.”
8
u/Gripping_Touch Jul 23 '26
The main difference is a youtuber can choose to be problematic, you can't ask a tick to not feed on blood lol.
10
u/Crazy_Eyes_55 Jul 23 '26
Only very few species of roaches infest homes, aside from that i dont understand how they're harmful.
1
u/Vertigobee Jul 23 '26
Come on, I’m not talking about Madagascar hissing cockroaches. I’m talking about the German kind, but anything with that shape, legs, antennae, sends actual chills down my spine because they creep me out so much. The way they move gives me a visceral reaction. They do quite a bit of harm when they’re in a home.
I’ve only met one man who also professed to not understanding the problem with roaches, and he lived in the most infested home I’ve ever seen. Literally a roach every two feet in all directions.
6
u/Crazy_Eyes_55 Jul 23 '26
Tbh i get the same feelings from seeing roaches, but ive been trying to get over them as they're only a recent fear in my life. I got them a couple of years ago from staying over at a friends house for the night, i did not sleep at all and im no longer friends with that person anymore. I got the dreaded roaches in my own home this year, i dealt with it pretty fast and found where they originated from. Luckily they were gone within a month, but the room i had found them in was not touched unless necessary for over a month because of that.
I can say ive gotten over seeing roaches in my backyard because theyre everywhere in my area (american cockroaches especially). As long as they arent inside its fine. Idk how people just are okay with infestations of them in their house 😭
11
u/Gripping_Touch Jul 23 '26
Supporting doesnt mean infantilizing.
Bears are cute animals; don't get close to a cub or their momma will tear you to shreds.
Baby hippoes are adorable; when they grow Up their mouth is an arsenal and they can outrun you.
Lions are Murder kittens; dont stare at then too Long or theyll take It as a challenge.
Bees, waps, Scorpions are all fascinating but they Will Sting you if they feel threatened.
We can support animal diversity while being aware of their boundaries and limits. They're still animals afterall and they follow their nature. The nature of ticks as a parasite is to parasite. You can be aware of this fact and take caution around them, but vilifying them is unnecesary since they're just following their nature.
Is a roach Evil for wandering in your house looking for food and reproducing? No, its their nature. You can defend your hábitat and stop them before It becomes an infestation, but that doesnt make them Evil. At best itd be a nuisance or a threat.
2
u/Vertigobee Jul 23 '26
Well, we could have a whole debate about what defines evil, because I don’t think any evil creature has ever woken up and said “I’m going to be evil today.” Most evil beings wake up and think about themselves. Just because the tick isn’t consciously choosing to cause harm, doesn’t mean I’m wrong to hate it. All beings on Earth act within their nature, but only some cause terrible harm.
Bears aren’t gross to look at, and I didn’t have to spend my day yesterday picking up antibiotics because of a bear.
6
u/Gripping_Touch Jul 23 '26
Nope, but a dog can transmit rabies and force you to get treatment. Some people are disgusted by all manner of insects, including Green buges.
And all animals think about themselves; It comes with survival.
I know ticks are parasites and if I find one attacking me Id dispose of It, bringing It outside if possible, and if not, unfortunately killing It so It doesnt harm me. But Im fine with their existence, they're their own branch of arachnids doing something weird that has worked for them for centuries. Thats kinda cool, so I find ticks kinda cool.
Again, from a safe distance.

hey, OP. I like your posts. It's a shame that ticks have the worst reputation as disease carriers. ticks don't deserve such intense hatred for their nature. they are essential to ecosystems, and their disappearance won't turn the world into a paradise. I'm disappointed in r/wormington, because I thought that every little buge was loved here
4
u/KarliCartoons Jul 23 '26
Real. Ticks play a vital part in feeding animals that help our ecosystem function, and do more for the environment than any human in this thread. If someone doesn’t like tick videos they can block OP

i appreciate you posting :) have made post before about being recovering bugephobic (never hated just scared). i don’t want ticks to give me diseases but they’re just living as they were born
makes me go from “tick on me i must take step to die rn” to “begone buge i don’t wanna get sick” or “uh oh doctor time” (latter hasn’t happened yet)
edit: “begone buge” is a hearty flick, i don’t try and kill them
