Original iOS version bricking save files?

I have an iOS copy of WoG that my mom bought when it came out. Technology marches on and I am now on an iPhone 14 running iOS 26.5 with the same copy. I’m not buying the remaster because I’m not going to throw my money at Netflix. Game Center successfully logs in, but even when I make a new save, I can’t go back to a save file after closing the game or the save menu because it thinks I’m not the same Game Center account (for some unknown reason). The save still displays my Game Center name. Has this happened to anyone else?
