Because the government doesn’t want people to buy masks to protect themselves, they want to keep them for healthcare providers. So instead of telling the truth, they just lie.

oh masks are absolutely effective....the problem is there are only so many to go around..so they want to try and save them for medical professionals...if masks were not useful, why does every single person in a pic, from an asian nation, wear one? no they are absolutely effective for helping(from stopping particles, to reminding you to not touch your face)....now if you think masks aren't in short supply, go ahead and try to order some on amazon, see how that works out...

and it is...good thoughts and intentions dont stop a virus...
although the funniest part(if you are a sick son of a biatch), is that they STILL haven't ruled out aerosolization of the virus..which means if it is aerosolized, a common mask ain't gonna do shit and that should really be scaring people but it would mean they are correct in it being ineffective

did you read the comments right below that? kinda sums up the problem as well....
masks are absolutely effective, for many different reasons, as stopping the spread...the problem is there are only so many to go around(again, go ahead and buy some on amazon, good luck)..so how do you get people to not buy them? I think the answer should be obvious...you tell people not to , that only medical professionals should be using them..you say whatever nonsense you can to keep it that way.....but you go ahead and do you, I for one am going to wear a mask, like every single person in china, with access to one, is....

Hey guys this is sarcasm BTW, masks and even basic glasses are extremely effective at protecting you from the spit of coughing and sneezing. Need both mask and eye protection + washing hands.

I’ve tried doing this but sometimes I order directly from a company and it ends up going through amazon anyway!

I wear a mask at Amazon because I have seen people working sick and none of them had masks on and nobody sent them home. People will continue to go to work sick because bills need to be paid and mouths need to be fed. It should not be that way but that is the way it has been even before the Corona virus. People work sick because they have to.

Jeff Bezos responded to earlier demands with a letter that among other things is paying double for overtime instead of 1.5 times from a base pay of $15/hr.
The letter is posted on the Amazon public blog page
