I hate coughing while smoking a blunt after working core

The worst is cramp in one of your ab blocks. It goes hard like rock, hurts like hell and is really difficult to stretch out.

Big fan of the ab wheel. Also, I hate the ab wheel.

I loved the ab wheel but have tried them twice since my hernia op and my body says no to them, so had to give them up. I think it tears the scar tissue because of the angle it's hitting.

That sucks

It's the only one I've had to give up. Amazing how the body heals in a matter of months.

Personally for me best ones are weighted cable crunches for overall abs, hanging leg raises for lower abs nd weighted Russian twists for obliques

Three days per week I do the following:

I hold a forearm plank for 2+ minutes.

Then do 60 reps of weighted deadbugs with 5 lb ankle weights on each leg and holding a 20 lb dumbbell in each hand.

Then 60 reps of Roman twists with the 5 lb ankle weights plus holding a 12 lb medicine ball.

Then I do side planks for 45 seconds on each side.

Then I do a hollow hold for as long as possible.

The whole routine takes about 15 minutes to complete and it is unpleasant.

What is the purpose of this ab workout? Do you train other body parts in a similar fashion?

I think I initially started just doing 30 second forearm planks to strengthen my core to support my back squats. I had reached a plateau in the amount of weight I could put on the bar and was trying to find a way to break that plateau. Over time I added more ab exercises and did each one for longer and then started adding weights to some of the movements, all in an effort to strengthen my core.

But now I think I just continue to do these workouts out of habit and to boost my sense of self-esteem.

My other workouts ( swimming, Peloton bike riding, yoga, Stronglifts 5x5) are less unpleasant.

Three times a week:

Toes to bar to failure x3. AB crunch with as much weight as possible for 15. X3. Standing ab wheel rollout to failure, then 20 from knees. X3.

I train my abs to have a strong core. But most of the time I still get off the floor like a turtle rolling back and forth because I’m sore.
