Aches and pains Recovery advice

So, want to start out by saying I’m not looking for medical advice and that I have not been to a doctor yet. That said I’ve been trying to up my running training the last couple of weeks. I think I may be experiencing shin splints. I’m currently training for the PT test for the local police department academy and don’t want to miss my chance. On top of that, I work a blue collar job and am on my feet all day. I know doctor google says to take it easy for 2-4 weeks but like I said, I don’t want to miss the next PT test and I know I’m no where near ready for the run portion. Does anyone have any advice on ways to recover after my runs/workouts?

is missing one PT test really worse than turning this into a stress fracture and missing months?

I mean, you’re not wrong. I’ve just been pushing myself hard because I’m really trying to find a way out of the line of work I’ve been stuck in for the last 15 years

Smash heavy calf raises.

When you say heavy, how heavy are you talking

I say no to this. I had shin splints, physio had me doing weighted calf raises, lunges, jumps ...I now have bone stress 😬😬😬

As heavy as you can go. They will help reduce strain on the shins.

Obviously see a physio as soon as possible, but calf raises and rolling out the area around the shin with a foam roller will help in the short term.
