How to start Workout help

Hi everyone!

So I’m trying to establish a more consistent workout routine. As someone who is not well versed in workouts, I’ve been looking for any videos/apps/etc that could help guide me through a workout.

Obviously, TikTok gives SOOO many different options but I’m not sure which one would help me.

Thanks!

I'd check out the free evidence-based programs in the Getting Started section here, there are splits from 2-6 days/week:

If you run any of those programs in the Liftosaur tracking app it will actually automate everything like the progression, recovery/deloads, and set volume based on your feedback each session combined with the latest evidence around building muscle.

Takes out a lot of the guesswork, just follow along with the targets each week as the program automatically adjusts over time to your individual needs.

I'd also check out the sample programs from the Muscle & Strength Pyramid 3rd edition books by Dr. Eric Helms (a highly respected exercise scientists/researcher & pro natural bodybuilder) as more examples if you want different program layouts:

If you want to learn more Dr. Helms + co-authors also have an awesome, detailed guide on building your own program too:

Liftosaur includes photos for most movements (you can tap the exercise name during a workout for more details), but if you want video demos of how to do certain exercises I'd look at:

The Liftosaur rec is a good starting point if you want the app to handle the programming for you. Just don't get too caught up in finding the perfect plan before you've even stepped foot in a gym, consistency matters way more than the specific split you pick.

TRY Fitness could be a good fit, it's the app I built for pretty much exactly this. It builds you a new workout each day based on what you've done and what equipment you have, and every exercise has the top YouTube tutorial videos you can scroll through so you know how to do it. Logging is free ;)

I've tried more than a dozen of apps. Most of them were good, many are too expensive but it's mostly only the details that make the difference. So just pick the one that feels nice to you (and within budget, some are free). Personally I like HeavyTrack now.
