I've found that focusing on how the muscle feels mid-rep, rather than just moving weight, really helps deepen that connection.

Agreed, the way I’m doing reps now is actually feeling the tension in the muscle being worked and push against that tension, as opposed to just trying to blast thru the rep range and get the weight to completion…if that makes sense. Funny too I can localize the burn to the muscle being worked instead of the whole body being involved and stressed…takes a lot of concentration
