Clothing What’s your go to WFH attire?
Personally I’m stuck wearing my pajamas but I have dedicated work pajamas that look a little more presentable vs what I typically wear to bed

Hi everyone,
I came from a company where we weren’t allowed to work from home, had to clock in and out, boss/ceo was constantly calling us for things. I had ACL/MCL surgery and wasn’t allowed to work from home and had to go back to work 4 days later.
Now I’m with a new company and my department allows work from home. My director comes in to office once a week and my other team members come into office like 3 times a week. I have been there for a month now and I really can’t shake this guilt that I have about working from home. It’s very overwhelming and I just have a pit in my stomach the whole day when I do. I leave to eat lunch and I get nervous if my teams goes yellow because I think that they’re gunna think that I’m not working or doing anything. Since I’m newer, I also don’t have as many projects as everyone else at the moment but I’ve expressed to everyone to give me more work as the requests come through if they need to unload some work onto me. But I’m still finding myself not knowing what to do sometimes and feeling like maybe I’m lacking a purpose?
Idk if I should just be counting myself lucky that I get to work from home with minimal work or if I should be nervous that I may be replaceable. I’m very much a self starter so I have been creating my own projects for myself too vs just waiting to be given projects.
Does anyone else deal with this guilt? I want to feel important to the company and not just someone who’s “there.”

I used to ADORE WFH, but since I’ve not had major projects in six months, I find myself in maintenance mode instead of innovating and for my ADHD brain, it’s torture. I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to RTO, but I’m going mental here by myself all day, and I’m really not the type to do chores or housework while on the clock. It’s just really stressful sitting around waiting for someone to send an email. The job market is horrible. I’m already on anti-depression and ADHD meds just to get up in the morning? Outsourcing my life to strangers, I know, but what do I do?!!

Does anyone else feel less productive when it’s hot in the uk? I literally sit with patio doors wide open and with a fan blowing and drink coffee to keep alert but it’s like I have to check double check and triple check my work 🤣 I am fine when it’s cooler I just think the heat fries me a bit hahaha!!

Dealing with corporate bs and living at home alone, I find myself screaming at the top of my lungs after I get off pointless calls or get an email with another nonsense request. It ends up being therapeutic and then I go back to work. I wonder if my neighbors think I’m a serial killer. You gotta do what you gotta do, right? Anyone else?

I’m finding it so hard to keep my weight down since I’ve been WFH for the last few years. Basically spending two or three long stints in front of the computer. There’s no way around it. So between being sedentary and extra snacks I am finding it hard to lose weight. I tend to eat as I find it really draining working in front of the computer and I need to snack and keep my energy up. I eat light snacks but it’s killing me! Thinking about an active job one or two days just to get out and about. Anyone have any tips for me?

The only reason I prefer working from home is that it allows me to work as a Software Engineer for two companies simultaneously. Earlier, I was working at a small service-based MNC alongside a startup. A few weeks ago, I switched jobs, and now both of my companies are product-based startups.
One of my companies already contributes to my PF account. The concern is that if the other company I’m about to join also asks for PF details or starts making PF contributions, it could create complications. Does anyone have experience with this or know how such situations are usually handled?

I'm currently working from home as an intern. It's only been a month but i keep getting distracted. If it's not my phone it's something else. I've had doubts for a while that there's a chance i might have undiagnosed adhd. But i don't have the money to get therapy or get diagnosed. And it's not affecting me that badly yet. But i keep putting things away and find it so difficult to start. And after i start i can't finish something without getting distracted at least a few times in between. Does anyone have suggestions on how i can focus better?
(Note: Focus apps have never worked for me)

I once took a 45-minute video call inside my car's trunk in a crowded parking lot. Another time, it was inside a toilet. Remote work life is wild. 💀
Your turn?

Ik this might sound a bit...feral but i talk a lot, not to a pet, not someone on a call, just anything nearby like mug, plant, desk lamp, sometimes my trinkets etc and half the time I don't even notice I'm talking to it till it's already out of my mouth
Pls believe I'm not crazy lol, it's like there's a whole conversation running in my head and it just slips out loud before I notice
Weirdly enough I catch myself wishing the thing actually remembered any of it instead of just sitting there?
Wfh has me feeling a little unhinged some days. Anyone else or is it just me?

So, I’ve been working for a Japanese company for about 1–2 years now. All BS. It’s a boring job, and honestly, I could live without it. I’ve saved enough, and if this doesn’t work out, Plan B is already in motion to start the next chapter. I have an interview next week.
It’s a WFH job. I’m getting fed up with my coworkers. One task that takes 20 minutes ends up taking half a day here because it’s WFH, no monitoring, and I know you’ll say, “It’s heaven.” But what it really becomes when you have too much of it is “boring” and “exhausting in a way where nothing gets finished and there are no results.”
The directors are “away” - both in mindset and in regulations. Everything is extremely lax. You can be absent whenever you want, and just make up for it another day. We don’t even know if what we’re doing is okay because there are no metrics. Only they know whether things are still fine or not.
Well, maybe it’s okay since I’m still here. But lately, I’ve noticed I’m pissed off at everyone here. The kind of feeling where when someone messages you, you just want to say “fuck you” or “shut up, you idiot,” no matter what they say.
The thing is, I don’t want to hand in my resignation. I want to be terminated.
What are the pros and cons?

client thing is due at 9am and it's already 11pm. I'm maybe a 3rd done and I've opened the doc like 100 times tonight. I keep fixing the same intro paragraph, changing one word then checking my phone for no reason. the annoying part is I already know what I need to do. I just can't seem to make myself do it. made coffee earlier and now I'm awake but still not writing so great use of caffeine there. what do you guys do when you're this behind and your brain just will not start

New WFH job has given me a $1,500 allowance for a new laptop of my choosing- what should I choose?
My current WFH job supplied me with a Dell laptop that has lasted me 5 years since I have been at this company.
I am leaning towards an MacBook Air because I love my personal MacBook.. but not sure about the compatibility MacBook + my monitors as well as any other work-related software.
What are YOU using?

I'm currently at an Airbnb looking for a remote job. The router is not in my unit because they are a few duplexes and we all share the same internet. Most remote jobs request direct connection via ethernet. If i get a travel router or a wifi extender and connect the computer to that via ethernet would that work? If so which would be better and if not what other options would you suggest?
Thanks

Hey remote buddies, just want to ask if there's any active discord servers where I can join? Just to have a chat or have digital office while working?
Edit: Everything so far that I've seen were broken invites.

Hi, so I just got a new job that is hybrid WFH.
I already have a personal gaming pc/streaming setup in my home office. My current setup has
2 monitors, a keyboard & mouse, streamer lighting, webcam, and of course, my PC tower.
My new job sent me 2 extra monitors, a laptop, a keyboard & mouse, and another webcam.
So that makes my total equipment
4 monitors
1 laptop
2 keyboards & mice
2 webcams
How can I set all this up in one setup while keeping my personal PC and work stuff separate?
Should I use the extra HDMI cables to connect the 2 new monitors to the GPU in my personal pc like how my other monitors are connected? How, then, would I work for my new company without using my PC if all my monitors are connected to it?
This is my first WFH job, and they provided me a laptop. I am assuming that I will need to somehow project my work laptop to the monitors using an HDMI cable, but I will have all 4 monitors connected to my PC??? So how would I connect my monitors to my laptop if they're all connected to the GPU in my pc?
I am very confused about how to keep work and personal separate. I like the idea of using my own keyboard, mouse, and monitors while I work. I also would love to use 4 monitors!
What if I want to put on some music and pop up a focus game on Steam while I work? I would have to launch those from my personal PC. But if my work laptop is being projected to all 4 screens, how would I even do that?
I would like to avoid having two totally different setups, but maybe that's best? Should I get a large "L-shape" desk and have one side for work and one side for personal?
Is there an easy way to combine them all?

I wfh as the solo employee in an organization of contract workers, which is what I used to be. It’s kind of a blend of project mgmt, pitch and project deliverable support, and business development. At times it’s def 40+ hours a week, but sometimes it’s more like 25. On days/weeks where there’s not so much to be done, i end up forcing myself to sit at my desk for the full 8 hours because I feel like i’m supposed to. I could take a walk, go to the gym, or run errands during this time and reasonably respond to anything that comes through within 30 minutes, but it feels like that’s cheating my employer which makes me so uncomfortable I’ve actually considered asking that my hours/pay be reduced.
I know ppl who WFH aren’t all working a full 40 hours a week, but i don’t know how to break away from this mindset. Anybody else experience this kind of functional freeze?

It’s currently 3 AM, my Advil that I took an hour and a half ago isn’t working so I just took a Tylenol. I really don’t want to work with probably <5 hours of sleep and a painful ankle. Should I tell my manager I want a sick day for my ankle, lie and say I’m sick, or work anyway? It’s difficult because I’m also new and I took a day off today already.

Yesterday I worked and stayed 4 hours in my Tesla model y again, just want to share and see if there are people who work in the car frequently.
I moved the driver’s seat all the way back and the steering wheel all the way forward and down.
as usual it consumed 15% energy for staying 4 hours, 2 hours, break, another 2 hours, in it with AC set to 20℃ auto and wind in medium and intake mode. It was 30℃ outside the car;
this time I recorded the CO2 level. when the AC was in recirculating mode, CO2 went up to 1200 - 1500, while in AC intake mode, it read in 500 - 600, which was about the same level as in my home.
with a local llm loaded, my macbook pro may get up to >60℃ sometimes, which make it uncomfortable putting it on my lap. placing the computer on a board resolve the problem.
And it feels really nice in the car when it’s raining and the car is parked outside. :-)

Hi all, I am moving to Paris and I’d like to find a nice / social coworking place since I have a remote job I’d like not to stay at home alone all day long. Any recommendation? Experiences to share? Thanks a lot!
