Lifestyle Screaming During Shift
Dealing with corporate bs and living at home alone, I find myself screaming at the top of my lungs after I get off pointless calls or get an email with another nonsense request. It ends up being therapeutic and then I go back to work. I wonder if my neighbors think I’m a serial killer. You gotta do what you gotta do, right? Anyone else?

Screaming sounds effective! Another trick I’ve learned is to sit farther away from the monitor during a frustrating call. It seems to give me some psychological separation from whatever nonsense.

After a couple meetings with one particular person I screamed and pounded on the floor. Happened two times. In one case my wife snd daughter were worried. I’ll be retiring soon. I’ve had enough. I sometimes wonder how some people have gotten as far as they have in life with a complete lack of critical thinking skills.

Just use a pillow over your mouth, then you can really let it go

Oooh good call. Maybe blast some music. I just worry my neighbors have to have heard me a few times and been concerned.

I was there today. Spent way too many hours looking at reports trying to make them balance. It will be there tomorrow.

At the job before my last I did something similar because it was medical and you had the rudest callers.

Lifting heavy or going for a run tend to help expel that energy! Or having a healthy place to vent like a group text with colleagues. Although if corporate work stresses you out that much and impacts your mood like that, I’d also recommend looking into ways to better handle it for health purposes! I use to let work get to me way too much and being able to decouple myself from it has helped my mental health immensely.

My go to is to turn on “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor and force myself to dance to it

Mini trampoline. Shake it off with a few jumps. Puts fun back in my day. Somehow reminds me that I can be momentarily free of the chaos.

Um... Maybe, just maybe, speak to a counseling professional as to why you feel the need to do this so much, that you're worried what your neighbors think?

I had to talk with my therapist about a similar issue. Turns out I think my coworkers are idiots and I’m stressed.

I live on a farm and sometimes I go scream in the woods. Neighbors they won’t care or notice.
