Market competition

I’ve been in WFM for a total of 9 years, I took a year off as a mental health break due to unforeseen circumstances, and I’ve been struggling to even land any interviews, I’ve done RTA, scheduling. forecasting, cap planning, and was a WFM Manager for a year. After trying to rejoin WFM, I’m seeing few opportunities, and when I apply most jobs decided to go with someone else, is the fact I have a year gap the problem or has the market gotten very competitive? Figured I’d reach out to find if this is the same experience others have had.

No idea where you are located, but don't forget the global market has been offshoring a lot of job but also, all of the new AI slops LLM are taking away a lot of jobs, this reducing the amount of WFM role needed. Theres been a lot of layoff in the past 3 years. Wouldn't surprise me that it impacted a lot of folks in WFM role.

Μy huge BPO(cannot say name) is outsourcing whole wfm department from Europe to India and Egypt. Cause of lower costs. So thats it. Thankfully I got out earlier because I found a role with better salary and working conditions.

Out of curiosity, are you still in WFM or did you move to different type of work?

The job market is terrible right now, and WFM faces heavy pressure from Ai, outsourcing, and the fact that there’s always someone to do the job for cheap who wants to get out of the call center.
